BMW Z3 3.0 - Fiona

Well back into the Zed Shed with little Fi...

This evening, Rear Suspension... Shocks and Drop links as well as front Drop links and a full oil service.
Interestingly enough the drop links were in such a bad state of repair that they came away very easy. The rear shocks were interesting too.

Old -v- New rear drop links. As can be seen the rear rubber has worn a little.

One of the rear shocks and yes that is fully extended. Just a little issue.

Shocks in place and cover cleaned up. Springs given a wipe down which appear to have been replaced in the past. New drop link visible through the spring.

That is a fully extended shock. Now wonder I had a little lively rear on the Zed. it was only the springs doing the work.

Comparison of the front units. New -v- Old. The perished rubber clearly visible.

Full oil service with filters carried out too this evening.

I can say the drive home was a lovely experience. Much improved.

Work still to carry out is the rear beam bushes and some other items such as the lollipops etc. All good fun when you work with Lee / Trevor and Gary ( Absent this evening )

With thanks for this evening to @Lee and @Oldguysrule

And @Shortie_gal for the pizza.

Good to see these jobs getting done Paul, this fecking Z will be like new soon. Enjoy mate.:)

Tony.

Well I want to do a lot of Euro runs and uk trips in this little lady. So getting all this done now will mean I hopefully will enjoy a great few years motoring. You can tell when you get into a zed that things need doing. It just needs the tlc to bring back the enjoyment and grin factor.

You will definitely enjoy that 3.0 lump Paul.:)

Mike, Looking at the rear window situation, Leather drivers seat, Wing Mirror Bases, rear beam drop and bushes. Basically keeping her standard. She is running a lot smoother now that the service and plugs plus a good fuel cleaner has been run through. Running on Shell V-Nitro too makes a difference.

I will also be doing a full clay bar, polish, wax to the bodywork too. A few bits of paint need correction, but they are in the far end game at present.

loved the Video... Great music too. You are going to have a brilliant seasons motoring ahead of you come 2017. I hope once I can get to the shed I'll be joining you with my matching 3.0

You're going to be busy for a while then.:):):)

Great Video

I really feel for you guys who have to deal with salt on the winter roads. The amount of under body corrosion I've seen in photos from countries that use salt shock me. My UK new Z3 has some corrosion, most has been dealt with. My Germany new Z3 is like new underneath.

Fantastic to see people bringing Z3's back up to spec.

A lot accomplished in a short period of time and well worth it!! Congrats to all that participated in breathing new life into an old Zed!! JIM

@oldcarman Still a lot to do to bring her up to my standard that I feel happy with.

A work in progress and one I am very pleased to be doing.

Great little video....

Can I ask what have you done with the BBS style 42 split rim alloys seen at the start of your video ?

@Bobafixit Those wheels are being kept by myself and refurbished to go back on the car in the New Year. I have put my spare set of alloys on for the Winter.
