Been working hard on the Z for the last couple days, got the ns chassis and sill done, it was a lot cleaner then the os, spent another couple of hours on the bonnet and its almost ready for primer, bits now ready for painting are both sills and front wings os rear wing boot lid and both bumpers,, also started work on doors and ns rear wing, I have to say that I am very impressed at the lack of rust under the panels, apart from the sills/chassis it is virtually mint, also noticed a valve with vacuum on the exhaust, I am assuming it works along side the engine revs, and opens up the second pipe at higher revs, still not sold on colour yet but Metallic white is now at the top of my list again.

Cheers Lee, its a lot of hard work at the minute and you don't really see a lot of return but it gives me a good feeling to know that its right on the inside, forgot to add that I fitted cree interior light and it makes a massive difference for £2.99, also got my leather balm and dye today so will be having a go at the seats in the next few days.

I put LED interior light in my Z3 Sean, unbelievable difference. Much more "modern", I also fitted LED reversing light bulbs and rear indicator bulbs too (indicators needed some resistors to keep the flasher can from going nuts but they're dead easy to fit)

Tony.

Another few hours prep work done today, 44 hours spent on it so far, best results from today was treating the seats to a dose of leather balm, I really pleased with the results so far. some before and after pics

Thanks Andy, It is TRG leather renovating balm, black tint, you can get a number of colours, It was £8.95 of Ebay, it will last for years though, the results are almost instant
Thanks. I'll bear that in mind for future referable.

should have titled this as sean of the zed progress thread
Love it,:)
More mundane stuff over the last couple of days, spent a total of 7 hours mainly prepping and undersealing the back sides of the panels, had some success on the rear window, power polished it with G3 and removed all the fine scratches so nice and clear now, decided I don't like the finish on the seats as they are to shiny, any Ideas on what to use to bring the gloss down guys.

The furniture clinic will be able to provide you with a water based spray on sealer that you mix to required finish so satin matt and gloss achievable.

I have always had black or silver cars but I do think white looks good on a Z3 and not many about.
