Assembly started today...albeit a slow start....
First I remembered to check that the handbrake cables would fit ok. They will, but really tight getting the o rings to locate , even with silicon spray. ( still I’ll get to sort that out later)
Got things in the garage ready, and put some cardboard down to stop scratching the parts
Tea to start....thermos for later, torque info to hand, pen and paper for notes and phone with Lee on speed dial
Got the beam and the diff back together and torqued up, and after sliding it under the car, brought out the trailing arms ( managed to get them on the correct sides without looking at the book )
Then with a bit of straining and cursing, got both trailing arms bolted up to the beam and diff just finger tight for now.
Propped up the arms so that the axles are horizontal and now wondered if it is ok to actually torque the bolts up on the beam. ( Perhaps @Lee or @t-tony could let me know)
I was thinking that it would be easier to do it now rather than after the beam/axle assy is raised back into position.
In the sunlight, I noticed a couple of scratches on the paintwork, and a couple of bits that I had missed, so quickly painted over them and it can dry overnight as don't want to lift it yet.
I have a ‘cunning plan ‘ about getting it back in position, but that will be for tomorrow.
The four new calliper sliders arrived this morning, so have all the bits now. Might start on the calliper rebuild this afternoon/evening in the conservatory ( or man cave ).
