Right finally making a start on the mess that someone had left behind.
Made a template from 2mm plate to reinforce the boot floor.
Spot welds along to strengthen it all.
I've had to completely cut out the frame where the diff mount was as there was so much messy welding it was impossible to seperate.
I'm going to have to make s new section and get it as close as possible so the diff mount is in the same place... or as close as.

are you doing all this yourself mate? effort:thumbsup:

how important is it to have the diff carrier in exactly the same place as before, and also how do you go about doing that bit? measure before and after?

My uncle is a welder. So he is doing the actual welding and supplied me with the metal plate. I've done the rest.
I'm not too sure about the exact position of the diff mount but i assume it has to be exact laterally or the bolt wont line up.
The diff pivots up and down as you lift it into place so if I mount the bracket i
onto the frame with a 2mm plate extra I don't think that will make much difference..

So far.

The 2nd pic is to cover a 'tear' that was hiding. That should be more than enough to stop it spreading.
Just need to make a new frame section next weekend and get that put in correctly. Might offer up the rear frame to get it in the best position..

Super super busy as usual but had a half day today and an evening during the week.
I made a new section of chassis which I'm quite proud of. And that was welded today.

Previously painted some gear in yellow and fitted these; front ns shock, front ARB, arb bushes and brackets + drop links, wishbone bushes which were a nightmare to do and also positioned the strut brace.

The Os shock is off and to be painted this week then I'll need to finish front brake pipes. That will be about it for the front.

Rear end fully built and ready to go back in the car.

@Sean d how much did you say to cut the main bush sleeve by? Also which orientation for those bushes? Thicker end at the top or bottom?

Diff mount is bolted onto the diff, will get it in place, spot weld it, remove the bolt then lower the frame out to finish the welding.

Front O/S made up and fitted.

Great work dude, firstly I cut the sleeve flush with the bush, that was no good as the bottom plates will not go on, so I cut it 10mm short of the length of the bush, thick flange to the bottom pal

Cheeky tw@ I did the right thing I believe :D, protonic blue Z3 ???? what protonic blue Z3 :D
"Protonic who"

Today was challenging. Offered up the whole rear end which, if you have done it, you know is a pain. Had the diff mount bolted onto the diff, plan was to tack it to the frame in the correct place then leave the bracket in play e and remove the frame.
Somehow it just didn't quite sit right, it seemed to be a couple of mm fwd so the front part sat ok but the back part was slightly out of place.
Just made a mark to show where it should be sat, removed everything them welded the mount on.
There's a bit of a gap on one side I think this is just where the piece of chassis I made isn't ridged along the top edges. Shouldn't make a difference. Fingers crossed.
We will find out when it goes back in.
Gona get the tank straps off I think next weekend and clean those up and rust treat them. Then should be good to go back in...

@Davyhoogy Have you pressed the beam bushes in yet? Trailing arm bushes went in easily but these beam bushes just wont go in. I think I'll need to buy a massive G Clamp as can't think of another way! I have cut the shaft down with the measurements @Sean d gave, if they are too short now, it'll be his fault! ;)

I have poly ones. Someone put my new oem bushes in wrong so had to cut them out, took the hit and bought powerflex ones. They go in by hand, much easier!
If you do mean poly ones then yes they just pushed in with a bit of spray lube. The sleeve needs hammering in a bit though.
