Slowing getting it back together, found a couple of issues that should be easily sorted. The bonnet needs a really good polish now I seen it in bright sunlight you can see a few marks, nothing serious and nobody would really notice but obvously I've gone over it very closely.

Only thing is I have a very, very nice looking MOT failure sat in the garage now :banghead:

MOT runs out on Friday, it failed on Tuesday. Excessive play in the drivers side ball joint and a leak from the power steering hose. I knew about the leak as we used some cheap clips which didn't quite do the job so I'll get them replaced and change the wishbone with new ball joints which should get it through. Nice easy fixes.

MOT retest today, all passed. Don't know whether to slap or thank @gookah!

Yes he did do some off the work, but the leak which he said was the clip (which I replaced) turned out to be the pipe and needed replacing. He luckily had a spare one that was made up and has done the job until I can find a replacement. The ball joint was fairly straight forward as we changed the whole wishbone that had 2 new ball joints plus a new lollipop and bush. But he was the one that sheared a bolt this time on the bottom of the droplink bracket :banghead: It was an easy fix for now, new nut and bolt and I'll get a new bracket. My plan is to change all wishbones, trackrods, droplinks bushes etc in the winter. Just over £50 for a new wishbone with ball joints and a couple of wishbone bushes with the lollipops. It not often I praise him but he has come to the rescue again so thanks Dad!

Now got to finish rebuilding, almost there just some trim to put on which should be done for the weekend and then a good polish and wax ready for the shows.

I’m amazed you let your dad that close. Mine takes far too long when he try n helps, he can’t see anything with his eyesight. It’s so funny watching him trying to find the right size spanner’s =))

I have vernier fingers so I know the sizes required,

With regards to @g8jka, I will remove the 20mm socket from his sight, as he likes to use it on 19mm nuts and round them off.
I don't think I have ever found a bolt that a 20mm socket fits. but it's his socket of choice.

Yes I sheared a bolt on his rust bucket, but I was only able to do that by using a correctly sized socket, nuff said

It could have been worse, if I had said it was the £240 pipe, and it then turned out to be the jubilee clip you would have been more annoyed.

He doesn't even try finding the spanners, it's my job passing them to him. And once he's under the car he doesn't come out until the jobs finished, must be hard carrying that sort of weight around at his age.

Yeah right, I did give him a 50p jubilee clip. Christmas has come early for him.

Doorcards need to come off, speakers removed and the cover is held in with one screw if I remember then it slides out. You then need to prise back the tabs that hold the grill in so it can be removed and painted. I just used cheap satin black paint from Eurocarparts. And some weed control material that’s sits between the grill and holder. Then refitting is the reverse.

Went with black and red carbon badges in the end, some new tinted 4D number plates. I've left the 2.8 badge off for now, not sure whether or not to put it back on yet. Spoiler also back on, it looked naked without.

Had a slight squeaking noise coming from it past couple of days, got home from work tonight and was getting a burnt like smell. The NSR brake was a lot hotter (around 85 deg) than the others (around 40 deg). I think the handbrake shoes are sticking on, I tightened them up before the MOT and it may have got a bit sticky. Hopefully get it sorted before Silverstone this weekend.
 
Forgot to add that the rear spring pads were recently changed as the old ones were shot. The wheels occasionally caught the inner corner of the bumper and arch but on the old coilovers that were past it. Now with the Eibachs back on and new spring pads it sits a bit higher. I went with the standard 7.5mm lower pad on the drivers side but a 5mm on the passenger side to try and level it out a bit as the passenger side has always sat slightly higher. Don't think it's made much difference I need to measure both sides.

Had a look at the NSR brakes tonight and I think it's the caliper sticking. Freed it off a bit and cleaned it up then took it for a drive but it was still red hot when I got back. Need to strip it down completely :banghead:
 
I have that problem raising it's ugly head on the O/S/R Dave. Hopefully it will see these next few weeks out as I plan a colour change on the callipers later this year.
