Bognor Lean-to Project

Awake at 3am …. Couldn’t go back to sleep…. So went into the garage….. wiring isn’t noisy, so got on with it. Pulled looms apart, rerouted wires, and removed most of that 25 year old tape and rewound with tape.

Took ages but worth doing….. then it was getting light so opened the garage door and hot on with refitting thr carpets

What a bloody nightmare….. trying to manhandle the bloody things trying to get the wires coming out at the right point and getting the front end under the heater matrix…. But after lots of swearing and loss of some blood…got them in. Then I found I was missing two wires …. Which I eventually recovered… and the carpets were in

On a roll so put the accelerator pedal back.

Then onto various metalwork that hold all the dashboard panels.
Carried on with all the internal plastic … laying it out in an attempt to remember the fitting order.

Looking like car again now Malc. Enjoy the footy and the Gig mate.

Tony.

Well thats just blown all Sundays assembly work out of the water......

Cant put any of the rear plastic in as both seat belts are jammed and will not release the webbing
Not designed to come apart... so looks like I need to get a pair......Got any Andy?? ( @spurs fan in a coupe )

So all I can do is get the front parts put back.....oh well One step forward two steps back !!!!

Are the seat belts in their fitted position @Mazza .. had the same issue with my daughters Citroen c1 .. they would lock unless in the exact fitting position and bolted down.

No not fitted yet.....went to pull the webbing out to clean it and spray them with silicon and seemed to be jammed.
Will fit one and see if it works
Thanks

Grip the bracket in a vice Malc, that will ensure the reel is vertical and they should pull out.

Tony.

No both Jammed… tried everything….. so now in the bin…. I wouldn’t trust them even if I did get them to work….. and Andy had a pair so a safer option.
Plus I dont know if they ever worked!!!!!

not one of my more productive days….And the gaiters dont fit either……..

That’s a fair point mate, you don’t know if they did work before.

Tony.

Don't be put off Malc we all have some sort of problem when we diy. Thing is we don't usually here about the probs the fitters in the main agents have even when they know what they're doing. That's all part of a leaning curve when we're not that experienced, just think what Lee and the gang have to put up with then you won't feel so bad. That 2.8 of yours is no doubt going to be one good motor when it's finished. Chin up it'll be all worth it in the end. :coolsteer)

Hi Roy
As I was reading that…..
I thought it was going to say…
……..just think what Lee and the gang have to put up with ….when you turn up !! =)) =)) =)) ( which is probably more acurate )
There’s lots to do but it will get done !!

I had no doubt and don't Malc after seeing what you've done already. If I lived closer I'd come a give you a hand but looking to what you've achieved so far you really don't need it.

This belongs to either the heated seats, ASC or air-condition buttons.

Spot on !!!!
I found a second one and looking at the ACS switch…. No ears just glue !!!!!
So took it apart, cleaned the glue out of the tracks where they sit…. And put it back together again

one thing less to replace !!! ( sorry Andy =)) )

Cant do much more on installing the interior as need some bits......all of which are available from my local Zed Breaker Andy ( @spurs fan in a coupe ) And will be here soon ...so on to other things.

Rear wings .....not good but gave them a clean up and rust treatment ...

Gave them a wire brushing and rust treatment.....then went up to see my local car sprayer ....( only about 1 km away and he has done work on my Old Kia Rio the 1.9 ZED and done a really good jobs on both.........)
Showed him the rear wings and he is confident that they can be done (happy bunny time) and we discussed the respray and now have a plan and I know what I need to do to get the car ready for them. It wont be driveable, but it will be collected and dropped off with them, once everything we discussed is ready, so they can do their stuff and make it look pretty again. ....hopefully in 3-4 weeks. ( dont worry @Rha , I will put the old wheels back on for this exercise, not the nice ones I got from you=))
While they have the car I can get the seats done ....new heated seat pads, seat belt guides and clean and treat the leather.

Next major issue is then to find a complete exhaust system.

And have to strip the doors down completely and this will be the next job......

Be careful what you buy exhaust wise Malc, most performance ones for your Z will resonate a boom and become tiresome on longer journeys. I personally would stick to OEM but add some nice slightly bigger tips, but that's only my experience.
Can't wait to see it in the flesh, maybe I'll have a run down when your done.

Very true. I always like to recommend Remus exhausts because they usually get less attention than the more popular exhausts like eisenmann. Unfairly though because they underline the sporty tones of the original exhaust without being obtrusive (depending on the model, of course).

Wasn’t going to do anything today…. But got the bug now…..

Waiting on a parcel from Andy, with all the bits to complete the interior… so started on stripping down the doors……

Took the door card off and this fell out …
What the f***???

the speaker covers dont fit !!! :arghh:
E12C0748-D16C-43B3-8475-32AE0B192EEF.webp

2 reasons… some of the tangs missing, but mostly because the speakers are too big and protrude out too far
25B8D61B-4FFE-49ED-A874-EB398A948E4F.webp

So I will have to get a bit creative on some covers !!!!

just a shot with rear wings back on and roll bars …. Gearing up to get it painted!!!
