All looking good Malc, a milestone to spur you on. Top marks to Alan for giving you a hand, it does get a tad awkward reinstalling the rear assembly on your own. What’s next mate?
Leave it mate enjoy the victory of what you've achieved so far. Now everything has been on/off next time round the gearbox will be out within a few hours.Go round and torque everything, which I have a list to tick off . Refit the propshaft....Although.....was also thinking of taking out the gearbox to check the clutch....and possibly do the selector pins......but not sure if I have the courage or the skill to do it. Plus the gearbox is really heavy....and dont want it dropping on me
I would like to get all the wiring sorted so I can get the carpets back in....and re fit some of the interior , just to get some of the parts out of the way.

Actually the guibo disk shouldn't be mounted any other way. According to BMW repair instructions and the manufacturer's specifications, the screws must always be inserted from the guibo side and screwed with the nuts on the flange in order to avoid tension. If you leave the guibo on the gearbox, then you won't have enough space to put the screws through from the correct side. But you have answered by saying you attach the guibo to the prop first…. So I’ll disconnect the front end from the gearbox leaving the guibo attached to the prop.![]()

For the heat shield washers, had same problem on my old Z3 and the only big washers I had just about held shields. Love the clean look of the boot. I also had some wires spare after fitting a new sound system to my Z3 and now think I should have labelled them for the next owners. Can't help you with the ones you have spare but think if all is working ok then just insulate them and tuck em away. You certainly have made great progress recently, keep it up Malc, soon be finished.I wonder where you got the idea from MalcThen all the ali heat shields reinstalled with new body nuts and oversize washers

Ebay wanted £2.05 per disc, so bought a length of 40mm wide ali strip (2mm thick ) and made some with a 38mm hole saw.
Worked fine and all the heat shields back on.

I have the same on my 2.2 (currently at ZedShed HQ). The HK amp lives behind that hump and the CD changer was mounted below it.Its a shame it has that box bit on the left and isn’t the std one. Was that for a CD changer?
