Its looking very nice Malc you must be pleased after all your very hard work. Geoff
No idea on the brakes but I like your cleaning arrivalsAll the brake hoses now connected up so just the bleeding to do......but after reading Bentleys, plus the Sealey instructions, I am a bit confused..( actually totally confused....) ...does the ABS pump get bled or do you need some BMW gismo to be plugged into to the car?????
What happens if you dont have the gismo ??
Adding to my woes....these turned up so it means the dreaded C word..........Cleaning!!!!!!!!

Hey Malc, glad that worked for you mate. I learned that trick when I was a tractor mechanic.I went for it today....and now have the Brakes and Clutch bled
Didnt start well, as my reservoir fluid remover would hold the brake fluid. A bit disappointed with that as it did ok with water. Anyway found trigger spray. Removed the front spray nozzle and just used the trigger to pump out the reservoir into a jar. .
Wasn't quick, but it worked and managed to empty of all the old fluid.

Pretty filthy !!!!!!
Refilled the reservoir with nice clean new fluid, and hooked up the pressure bleeder. It said pump it to 10psi with the bleeder empty and check for leaks...........
Well there was one.......it was the the pressure gauge seal and it caused the fluid to be sucked back into the bleeder........Never having used one before went into Panic Mode......until I worked out where the problem was.
After tightening the gauge (screwed it in !!!!!!) pumped it up again to 10 psi and left it for 5 minutes. And it was still reading 10 psi.....so no leaks.
Released the pressure , filled it with about a litre and half of fluid.....and pumped it to 20 psi.

Then went round the 4 bleed valves in turn. ( in the right order !!)
Pumped the brake pedal....then did it all again........pumped the brake pedal and went round again ( just to make sure )
All good, and the brake pedal felt ok.
I was checking and topping up the Pressure back to 20 psi every time I did it.
Then climbed underneath and did the clutch........There was loads of air ....not sure why, but carried on and eventually the air cleared, . Checked the pedal and it felt crap!!!!! So pumped it a few times and it gradually came back to life. Then back underneath to bleed it a bit more.....no air....so tightened it and cleaned all round and put the cap back on. Checked the pedal again and it felt ok.
Tidied everything away, then went round and checked all the bleed valves and hose connections just to make sure
And all ok
( I will go round them all tomorrow as well )
Got the exhaust positioned to make sure all ok.

The rear bracket is slightly wrong so had to modify it a bit.

Thats the best its going to be....I can centralise it but cant get it any higher in the aperture.
So that was it for today......I will get some paste and get the exhaust fixed properly tomorrow.
Then just the undertray ( after I’ve checked the clutch slave cylinder again tomorrow) ....spare wheel assembly and road wheels to put back on.
One thing that I was a bit concerned about was the brake hose union on the nearside trailing arm, next to the exhaust bracket that is bolted to the beam. The hose union bracket was just touching the rubber mount. But after a while I realised that when the car is back on its wheels the trailing arm will be raised and then they wont be touching.
@t-tony , the PTFE around the gearbox drain plug worked. Bone dry
