Spent a few hours wire brushing and treating surface rust whilst the subframe is out. I manage to fit my first shiny bit as well. One of Mazza's awesome fuel tank straps. I'd highly recommend a set if you need, these are miles better quality than the originals.

Hand brake cables tomorrow!

I've been looking through some old photos and found one of my last Zed. Unfortunately I sold it In 2016 when the house needed new windows. It was an s50 and had a uneconomical to restore on its v5 so not a mega bucks example but good fun nonetheless.

I got the BCs from the unit last night. Handily enough they come with new drop links for the front as well. 1 less thing to order.

I need a shed extension!

A fine job for the morning. New elastomers into the rear calipers. I still need to fire up the dremal and clean off the pad contact points on the carriers.

I got the bushes in today and chased all the threads out. I've also cleaned off powdercoat from the caliper carriers. The diff has had a bit of a wire brush and lick of paint. I've not spent too long on it as I don't know if it works yet and I'll probably try and get my hands on another e30 lsd eventually.

Looking so good now!

Couple of useful tips, fit the drive shafts first before fitting as these always fight going back into the hubs. Also fit the diff to the subframe before install due to the bolt heads being up against the bulkhead.

Look forward to seeing photos with this all back in.

Cheers Lee. I've a couple of brake pipes to knock up and then I should be ready to lift it in. Thanks for the advise 👍

I've replaced some pipework today but I need to order up some new brake pipe clips as the originals were goosed. I have decided I am going to strip and redress the half shafts before I put them back in. Makes sense as everything else will be refreshed. I've got a couple laying around from my e30 antics so I'll pick the best of the set.

I did also reseal some panel joints but I forgot to take photos due to my hands being covered in tiger seal

Progress has slowed due to work commitments but I now have everything I need to rebuild the front end as well.

I got some 6 cylinder calipers which I stripped and powdercoated.

The rear subframe is still not in the car but its looking good.

I have undersealled everything on the rear end and replaced the brake cables and pipes. Along with the tank straps

I've got the shafts stripped and painted waiting for me to have time to rebuild. The next instalment will be towards the end of December

I've managed a little shed time. I've stripped and replaced the grease and cv boots on the driveshafts, giving them a bit of a clean up. The subframe is back in place. I've still a few bolts to zip up on the prop. I was being cheap and i was going to reuse the shoes but as I finished up sticking the first corner together, I knocked the liner off the shoe, typical.. New shoes ordered.

The red bits will add 10bhp at least

I figured I'd document the journey a little bit. I've picked up this P reg (uk) 150k that's been off the road for 8 years. I have it purely as a project to play with. So the good parts, the roofs in great condition and it has a stainless exhaust. It's the m44b19 which starts and runs pretty sweet considering it has a massive vacuum leak. It's going to be fun trying to rescue this little zed. The black bonnet was swapped onto a silver zed for some reason. Never mind it all needs some paint.

Also if anyone would like a tow bar, just let me know. That's the first thing to go.

Thanks for reading

Nice one Davie. Aye, always keen to get out for a drive. The coast road up by the bloo toon is good fun. Some nice harbours for photos ops as well.

I am back from work and I am going to try and spend a bit of time getting the zed progressing. The hand brake shoes and hardware had arrived whilst I was away. So I got them all back together. I've started stripping a front corner but I am now thinking I'll spin the car around in the garage for some more space. I've got a new torch for the welder arriving today so I can sort the jacking points.

The brakes turned out perfect, I am just not sure what to do with the wheels. Powdercoat the originals, don't know which colour, or go aftermarket.

I had to trial the bc coilover in for aesthetics

I've got new wish bones and track rod assembly's to fit which will clean everything up. I'd like to get the subframe out for powdercoat but I'll need to see if I can borrow an engine brace as I don't want the engine out just yet.
