Happy new year all. I figured I'd write an update.

After the the hose bursting the car wouldnt run smoothly and due to this the emissions couldnt be tested. It took me 10 months to get the car back due to not prioritising it. Once I got the car back I did a little digging and found one of the vacuum pipes was disconnected. It also presented codes for the cam sensor and the O2 heater. I replaced both of these and it was back to running smoothly. I stuck it back in for a test and she failed again due to a new PWS leak and rear brake efficiency. The steering rack had slight play in it also.

I bleed the brakes again and it looked to be good, went to move the car and the clutch slave had failed. Replaced the slave, bled the clutch and then the new slave failed but launching the rod into the bell House.. super... gearbox out time.

The fork had some wear and the pin was also worn. I was at this time thinking about sourcing a newer box as the box looked a bit leaky, but I opted for new seals and fork bits. I replaced the clutch whilst I was in there.

I sourced some replacment pipes and oil cooler from ebay and a replacment rack from Quarry motors, supposedly from a 30k miles car but it has cured the play.

The car is now ready to retest and I just need to book it in... So next up the breaker.

I got the m44 out and on the stand, it sounded sweet before removed. It's now on the stand whilst I decide how to approach the next bit. I have an m42 in the parts store as well.

That's pretty much me up-to-date on the old Z3. I am trying to work out the best way to approach the FI m4#. The m42 I have will have some forged internals, crank and rods I believe, but the m44 has a better head, oil delivery and knock sensor which could be handy. I've never done an engine build or FI before so this is just about the project.

Happy new year

Some nice work there, bet you were glad to get rid of that Ripspeed special. Did you rattle can the wing?
Yes the knob was very ugly, the new one was an ebay bargain but feels quality. Yes, it was a rattle can job. I keep threatening to order a compressor but it would just be something else to store.
