Introducing... Rhubarb

I'd planned to but there is a 7 day wait on the parts to be shipped from Germany, and I have a show at the weekend :(

Bugger ...if they are in good condition just treating and repainting may be all they need hopefully

Have you got any Vactan Martin, just the job for that type of surface. It turns rust into a stable medium which you can overpaint.

Tony.

I'll be using POR 15 as a solution. Paint day tomorrow on the sills, subframe, diff and boot floor.

Apparently its no good put on paint, so still considering where to go there. Might be Hammerite.

Updates tomorrow!

They're in awful condition. I tried cleaning up in preparation for painting tomorrow, but I gave up.

Totally stuffed

That looks like awesome stuff!

This is the week to get EVERYTHING done as there are shows Saturday and Sunday. I was hoping I'd have time to give the car a machine polish but it's not looking likely.

I'll have deliveries through the week on bits, hopefully all here by Thursday.

It is a very good product mate I've used it on lots of things. I figured if it's good enough for the likes of Disney and Universal it'll do for me !

Tony.

Very happy with progress today, the morning started with further prep on the sills before painting.

I managed to get 2 coats of POR15 on the sills, boot floor, diff (one side only) trailing arms and subframe. Pics below

I'd love to have the courage to do that to mine :( on the upside my son is in his second year at college for motor mechanics so in 18 months I'll be able to pass the spanners :)

Give him a project to get used to spannering ;)

He did help me change the discs, pads and shoes and did well TBF, a proper spanner monkey in the making. A bit early yet to let him lose on my favourite child

Nice work.
There always seems to be something that needs doing on these cars and money spent.
Keep up the good work. :)

Nice work painting up all those bits. I've used POR15 paint products before and found them excellent, really hard wearing so should last a long time

Don't forget to spray some decent cavity wax in the box sections.

I use dynax on mine

I got the rest of the painting done today and removed the diff cover for a new bush. A quick trip to the Zed shed tonight to get the old bushes pushed out and a new diff Bush pressed in. Pictures below

Good jobs done there Martin, agree that getting something "square" in a press is crucial to avoid misalignment and, ultimately, damage. Next our press at work we have selection of old wheel bearing shells and various odd sized bits of steel to use in these operations. Certainly makes things easier.

Tony.

ps. The week is flying mate;)

Hope all goes well for you mate.
