g8jka - 2.8 Roadster Progress Journal

Hardtop and winter wheels/tyres are now on, never used the tyres in the snow until Friday. Had quite a bit here and got to work and back no problem thinking they are great. Came down heavy over night and when it does I can never get up the drive as its fairly steep so got the car out the garage thinking I'd sail up it. Managed about 10 yards before getting stuck :banghead:

What’s the Zed doing out in the snow?:arghh::(

I had a similar experience a few years ago, in the end it stayed out for the night and looked like this in the morning.

And no, I didn't go to work the next day!

Me too Dave, not looking forwards to using my front splitter as a snow plough though mate.;)

Well I got up the drive fine today and cleared a bit of snow with the splitter coming out of it :nailbiting: Most of the roads aren't too bad now but all the slush and crap has gathered in the middle and is the perfect height for my splitter and bumper to plough straight through it. Think I'll leave the zed in the garage for a few days. Have to say though the tyres were great today, I have to go round and up a steep hill to get out of the estate and it was a breeze earlier.

As far as figure skating scoregoes: 2/10
That exit was way too civilised and controlled.
Ditch these silly winter tyres and get a full oppo drift out the drive at 3mph for an 8/10
:)

I can't get any speed at all off the drive I have to crawl up over a ridge then down onto the road as it catches the front splitter and scrapes like mad under the car. It's worse now with the hardtop on, even though it doesn't weigh much it catches even more. Plus there's a muppet who parks their car on the road opposite the exit making it tight.
I will try harder next time though

I use a couple of wooden planks (3/4" thick) to run the car over a slight ridge and into my garage - would this solution help?

Probably but they need to go from the ridge at top of the drive over the pavement and onto the road, the driveway is also access to 4 other garages for the neighbours. I'd have to keep them in the car and put them down every time :arghh:

The easiest option is to raise the coilovers but that's no fun or hope that @gookah buys me an air suspension kit for Christmas

You can try higher tyre pressures. When mine are low it will scrape a particular speed hump, pumped up full and it doesn’t, can’t be much difference but just a little to help.

Or lose weight over winter to compensate for the HT! (Less food and lose spare wheel, run low fuel etc!)

And ditch the HT, ;)=))

I’d normally agree but it’s looks particularly good on this car. On standard cars I think they don’t look right but with finished Car like this it’s look great.

Not talking about the thing on the car Dino.;)=))=))

keep hoping.....

And all those years you made me believe, I always knew Santa wasn't real, if he was he would get me what I wished for.

I have found it catches more with the 17's than the 18's both with hardtop on, even with the same pressures and they are the same diameter which is weird. Spare wheel is gone, must be my weight!

I find the same thing between 17 and 18. I think maybe tyre brand impacts it but the car is definitely lower on 17’s despite the online calculation saying it’s yhe same.

Raise your bum from the seat to see if it makes any difference driving over the ridge.
