Another update:
Rebuilt the DISA unit, wasn't anything wrong with the old one but reading up on some stories of them going wrong and the pin dropping out into the engine I thought it's worth doing so it's future proof.
New parts
Half way through
The new O ring isn't needed on this unit for the M54 manifold. All back together and working well, a simple job.
I had a little mishap in the snow the other day at work when I got the back end out a bit quick going round a bend and ended up stuffing the front into a rock. Smashed the splitter and caught the bottom of the bumper. I had a few quotes last year to have the bumper and splitter painted because of a some flaking in the mouth of the bumper but put it off. Now it definitely needs doing, hopefully the splitter can be repaired, I have a spare bumper but it all needs fixing and painting
Been meaning for ages to get the centres painted and the lips polished on my summer wheels to get rid of the corrosion starting to appear under the lacquer, although I've had them coming up to 8 years now and they are still in decent condition I fancied a change. I noticed a very small split in one on the rear of the rim when I took them off before winter, it wasn't leaking or causing problems but I don't know how long its been there and how big it might get. Got it welded by a local guy who has done a fantastic job and you wouldn't know it was cracked. I could leave it unpainted as it's on the rear but now is the time to do something with them.
The crack
Welded up
As they are reps they can't be split, so it's not that easy to polish them as the bolts get it the way and without the tyres off and a lot of sanding and hard work I decided not polish them. I had a go at polishing the one I got welded as the tyre and valve were out and although it was coming up quite nice it would cost me £40 to get all the tyres off, then back on, plus money for sand paper, polishing gear etc then the centres and rears would still need painting. It would take me ages to do myself and probably be cheaper to just buy a new set than have them painted and polished by a wheel company. So I've taken all the fake bolts out and got some new ones and taken them to the powder coaters today and they will just be done in all one colour. Perfect timing as well as they need 2 rear tyres on them so they will put the new ones I've bought back on instead of the old ones. Hopefully I'll get them back early next week and post up the results
