Bognor Lean-to Project

On your second picture you will see 2 faint lines above the holes, that's where the butyl goes.

Hi Eddie
I seem To have three lines on mine….so is it between the yellow lines or the blue lines????

Actually did a job on the car today …nothing much but it’s been bugging me every time I go in the garage….

fitted this …
C42409A2-0A06-42EF-8C04-F39460A5E078.webp

It came off the donor car I had as the one on the 2.8 has the top vent piece missing ( snapped off )

Plus it gave me an excuse to use my nugga gun 😋😋😋😋

So jacked up , wheel off and just pulled the pipe off.

that’s all the difference us… the top bit:whistle:

One thing I did learn was that there is a sleeve in the pipe where it fits on to the canister..

So as there wasn’t one in the new part I recycled the old one… put it in upside down just to get a better fit.

Once pushed on to the canister

then it clips to the fuel tank

and that was all I did …
but at least it won’t annoy me any more 😂

A job I wasn’t expecting … have to swap over the boot lid… unfortunately it’s been scratched while in the garage and a small dent.

Luckily I kept the one from the donor car I had so stripped it down today

Need to swap over the lock and also pulled the old wiring out … but remembered to put pull cords in to hopefully make it easier to reinstall the wiring on the car.

The rear boot light on the car is a white one which will be available if anyone wants one.
I’ll stick it on the For Sale section once it’s off.

10 minutes and the damaged one was off the car…..

and about 10 minutes later ….
IMG_0257.jpeg

the replacement in place. 😋

I had forgotten that I had sorted the boot wiring and it all has a spiroband covering for protection…

and with the pull cords made it easy to get back into place.

Bit fiddly getting the lock back in and connecting the rods but eventually all done and lined up ok.

only difference is the boot light is now red ( was white) and I have a Z3 emblem but the 2.8 has gone :banghead:

Are you going to be driving this car before Christmas? I would love to see that.

I could do but it matches the red tail lights. now =))

Did you also replace the stop light seal? Nice to do while you are in there. These tend to leak a lot.

No I didn’t need to as I know its fine …
The boot lid came from my donor car and I know it wasn’t leaking 😋
I agree that it’s worth doing while it’s accessible though .

Finally , and after talking to Raymond at Jack Smiths today , I have the roof back in situ.
Just need to order the mastic then , with my new found knowledge, will be able to get it sealed =))

Then I can refit the interior which is only a days job.

Despite the rain which turned into a snow flurry… I went into the garage to crack on with the car…. main aim was to get all the parts currently dumped in the car plus the seats out and put into the conservatory to check I still have everything… by the way don’t have anyone to say no in using the conservatory for all the car parts 🫣

I remembered I had to repair some kerb ramps for a neighbour so did that first…..

Right on with the car……. Ah… perhaps I should quickly refit the exhaust on my generator that fell off last week . Snapped the flange and a bracket !!! but had them welded as you cant buy a new exhaust now.

But looking around it noticed that nuts were missing and two of the mounting brackets were damaged … probably the cause of the exhaust falling off…. so half an hour passes and the generator is in bits :whistle:
so gave it a clean.

Everything seemed to be loose and various nuts and washers have at some point, made a bit for freedom and vibrated loose and fallen off.

Fortunately I found a generator spares company on line and lo and behold , they sell these brackets as a set of 4 … (about £60:arghh:) but need to be changed.

So now have to wait for a couple of days …..

in the meantime …. back on with the car???…..No !!! it got too cold, so packed up and came indoors =))=))=))
