Thanks for the offer @littlefeller and rest assured I will contact you should I need your expertise. Haven't a clue about 32 bit-64bit though just know 64 is bigger and better than 32 bit! As an oldie I'm personally glad there are younger members here willing to share their knowledge to bring me into the 19th century!! lol. JIM

12mm maybe with a name like littlefeller, ummm maybe thats exactly what shes getting at, never looked at it in that way before, but then my module wasn't engaging before, this thread though should boost sales of abs modules though:) as it doesn't really matter about the part numbers any more:).

well i have now covered 100 miles, so i though i should plug in inpa and take a butchers, still no codes for brake switch or any other come to that:) wine time i think:).
so that is the answer- buy cheap ebay or @spurs fan in a coupe module and simply recode.
for the £25 for the bmcables stuff its still a heck of alot cheaper than going to BMW (anywhere between 600 and 1200)

here is what i did -
  1. load profile expertmode
  2. F1 VIN/ZCS/FA
  3. F3 ZCS/FA
  4. Select E36
  5. Select ECU then any of the available modules should provide NCS with your cars details. e.g EWS, this will load the cars individule coding into NCS, then press back button.
  6. F4 process ECU and choose the ASCMK20 module
  7. F3 execute job, it will now write the coding for this module which was gathered during step 5.
  8. Done. NCS should complete successfully (hopefully)
Inspired by your write up I finally got around to buying the Bcables kit and set about recoding my ABS/ASC module. Your write up was a real help and I identified a couple of small tweaks (possibly down to different versions of the software) which I thought I would share.

1. "load profile expertmode" gave an error message "Profilversion 2.0 ungultig!" (i.e. invalid). After a bit of research I loaded "Expertenmodus (Werkseinstelllung)" from the list of profiles and this worked perfectly.

5. I was going to add "press the back button" after this step but it seems you have already been and done it.

Going through all the steps took all of 5 minutes maximum (probably 2 minutes for anybody familiar with the software) and the amber light was off. Went for a drive, found some gravel and can confirm that the ASC cuts in when provoked, the light flickers and goes off. Works like magic so far (about 40 miles). Thank you again.

Can I suggest that you compile the main steps for the solder repair and recoding and make it a technical entry in the Z3 Wiki.

On another INPA subject mentioned above, perhaps you or one of our other INPA gurus could enlighten me.

yeh no problem, my laptop is also 32bit, hence why i know it needs to be 64bit to run the dis. it states that all laptops built since 2012 would be 64 bit, they are wrong, mine built 2015 and is still 32bit.
Like you I could not get vmware to load from the disc, however, I am trying to load onto a 4 week old Hewlett Packard laptop, with a Core i3 processor (2.2GHz I think), which has Windows 10 (64 bit) installed.

I also tried to install TIS, overnight the second time, and this failed. I think the first time it failed because the power settings included going to sleep mode after 20 minutes even when plugged in. Changed this and it still failed. Any ideas on why TIS won't load would be appreciated.

i had a similar issue, it took for ever to install, then it didnt show as installed, think i tried about 3 times, it did finaly install ok, one problem i did have was with the DIS, it filled my hard drive (320gb) free space to the point it ground to a holt, i had these issues i think because the vmware was not installed, try downloading a different vmware and try again.
once i had a different vmware version installed it went ok.

try getting in touch with bmcables, it may require ellements of windows 10 to be disabled to allow the vmware install.

Thanks Jason, Bcables do not offer support. Firewall and and anti virus were disabled as per instructions. Tried e-mailing them and got no reply. Will try phoning. Which version of vmware did you use successfully?

i didnt, it wont load DIS, well it does load but doesn't recognise the diag head, there is a long winded get around which i tried but it still didnt work. it does sometimes connect but i get a load of error messages though if you just keep clicking ok it does get past them, untill you try another part od DIS then its back to clicking ok on the error messages again, though Tis did load, i used a vmware version 6.
but without the vmware installed it wont install DIS or TIS completely. im just using the inpa and nsc part.
