Had a few minutes on my hands this afternoon and my mind turned to making the lift more mobile, or at least more easily moved. The lift came with a pair of heavy duty castors which fit in the front corners of the frame.

Plan is to get 2 more and make them slot into the double frame near the rollers at the other end frame.

I wouldn't want to risk that mate, but I like your thinking! Maybe make some "dollies" to move a car on though?

Been there done that. Amazing how much weight those castors will carry and usually across uneven carparks too. I built an engine crane on some of those years ago.

Anyway I found what I needed at Tool Station in Lincoln (2 in stock) so I fetched them on "Click and Collect" contactless pick up. Less than £4 each inc. Vat rated at 125Kg each.

Swivel Castor

White swivel polypropylene wheel. Complete with wheel bearings for ease of movement on 100mm and 125mm sizes only.

They do reccomend those castors are removed when the lift is used, only attached for help moving it.
PS the pipes arrived today, thanks will set about makig an oil drain now.

Yes, you couldn't use the lift with the castors in place mate, it would break them before lifting a vehicle, but it will make a big difference to rolling the lift out side for a sunny day. I've acquired a "quick release" connector for the high pressure hydraulic hose so the motor and pump can be kept out of the way.

Well, after donning the thinking cap, I got these made this afternoon, a piece of Oak cut to size and attached to the castor brackets. Small issue when fitting the left one into the frame as it was about 5mm too long (obviously these things aren't built in a jig) but dismantled and a quick visit to the table saw all is well. Now have L&R marked on them.
Yes, like my shoes, before one of you lot start.

Still heavy obviously but it rolls very easily, so now on a fair Shed day we can go to full height outside. Just need to fabricate a quick release method of stopping them dropping out of the frame. I have a cunning plan for this.

Certainly will mate. Did Shirl's Eos front discs and pads on it a couple of weeks ago, sitting on my new stool. Brilliant! No sign of backache.

Belive it or not, I had some success growing one on a south facing balcony.

Had grape vines growing on the hippy farm in South Wales I used to work at. Never got round to making wine, unfortunately.
