Z3 2.2i now bought

Hi @James S. Nice motor you have there.

Not aware of seeing any facelift models in Atlanta Blue before. Probably a rarity.

I think we are confusing Sport specification from 20 years ago with modern M Sport branding and exploitation.

The Sport has a limited slip diff, lowered suspension, very nice Style 78 wheels and highly desirable seats.
Then you have smaller touches like illuminated gear knob and front bumper grill.

Interesting this play on words , according to the BMW build spec mine is

Think is when I went out with my son to look at 4 Z3's on a Saturday , we knew nothing at all about them , not even engine sizes

This was the first one we looked at ,

we only found out was lower than others when we came down to the Silverstone Classic, and found out it was a slightly different model,

When I bought my first Z3 to do up from a write-off I didn’t know what a Sport was either until I got it him and started reading up.

I know some people say big deal. But the 15mm lowering alone makes it sit very differently to a non-Sport.

I had thought the illuminated gear knob was only on M models?

@James S i did the same thing last year. Bought a low mileage Z3 2.2 which needed TLC, i've done it back up to factory rather than modified and now i plan to just enjoy it on those nice summer days. I've not driven the other engines, but i'm very happy with mine especially with it being rear wheel drive. Happy hunting!

Mine's a 2.2 Sport as well. It also has the illuminated gear knob. But I'm not convinced about the Sport package. The bigger 17" wheels, lower profile tyres and reduced ride height give a very harsh ride. I had rather expected it to be more comfortable. Fine on a billiard table-like surface, but where do find those these days?

To answer your question, around Windsor all of a sudden! Can't imagine why they have stopped throwing black gunk down and sending 300 tonnes of loose stones on top, leave for 2 years then sweep up (poorly). But now...... they have immaculate traffic islands, GP style tarmac and glistening white and yellow lines.

Must be a pure coincident a ginger is marrying and yank nearby soon!

Up here in SW Scotland a Land Rover Defender would be the best vehicle for most roads. We are fortunate to live in an affluent area of an affluent town but the roads are appalling, covered in deep holes and raised lumps. It knocks hell out of your car.
@Bumpa dont forget the sportier style heated seats too with sport package
Yes the seats are very comfy, and the heaters are gorgeous on a chilly day.
