12 hour, 500 mile round trip Truro - Telford - Truro, (along with some other business) and I've got some more bits for my resto project, big thanks to Pete @gookah . What a lovely guy by the way.
This will probably just go onto the pile of other bits, rear shocks, brake discs, sills, front wings etc and wait an eternity for me to get my arse into gear to start the job. I was due to retire in 6 weeks time, 15th April, when I'd have plenty of time to get stuck into it, but I've changed my mind and I'm going to carry on for at least another couple of years, well, unless I change my mind again, or until the next time I fall out with the gaffa =))

Garry,
firstly you gave me £30 too much, (I didn't realise)
then I forgot to give you the trailing arm bolts.

If you PM me your account details, and address,I will rectify...

No worries Pete, just give the £30 to a charity of your choice.

You stick at it Garry, as long as you enjoy it. Retirement can make you soft, lazy and fat. I miss my job.
Ain't necessarily true, I don't know how I ever had time to work for a living, managing to keep busy seven days a week. And I can't help remembering a tw@ I used to work with, he was forever yapping about how much he wanted to retire. Died within a year of retiring. No warning, nothing, just didn't wake up one morning.

You don’t need a job to keep busy. I don’t miss mine one little bit. Wouldn’t have time for it now anyway. I do enjoy doing what I want to do though.

Tony.

Outwardly I've always been "glass half full" type of guy, but I think I'd struggle if I was at home all day, everyday. I'm not very good at doing nothing and to be honest for my mental wellbeing I need a reason to get out of bed every day. I suppose I'm lucky that I really enjoy my job, I work on my own and my jobs are sent to me electronically to my laptop. I work out of my works van and rarely have to go to the office. I don't do physical work other than looking at stuff, inspection/examination and reporting.

I know we can't keep going forever and hopefully I'm going to reduce my workload whereby I will work 10 months of the year, then knock that down to 8 months.

I suppose if I worked in a factory or if I had to go to the same place every day I'd probably have an entirely different outlook.

I look after 6 sites, each of which require 2 visits a year and I'm there for a month at a time.
2 of the sites require me to stay away from home due to travelling time, so I stay away from home for 4 months of the year.
I'm negotiating to drop these 2 sites.

Loads of good points here regarding retirement.

I do love what I do, but I have so many interests that there are not enough hours in the day for me to do all I want. Not having to work for a living would be great, but I haven't got to that point yet. :-(

Mind, I predominantly work from home, so that work-life balance is easier to achieve. Still, I would have plenty of stuff to do to fill my day (and part of the night) if I were to retire. ;)

I guess I'm not his charity anymore, remember kids are for life not just for 18 years

With his memory you could have short changed him by £30 and he wouldn't know any different ;)

I suppose he is a nice guy, at times

These Blaupunkts look great in a Zed ..I have the Valencia although can’t really see how it differs from the Nurnburg..except my buttons have red text View attachment 251341
It must be the preference in a city at this point as I got my Madrid today and it's exactly the same as your Valencia even down to the button colour.

1 x INNER OUTER LEFT TIE ROD ASSEMBLY
1 x INNER OUTER RIGHT TIE ROD ASSEMBLY
2 x FRONT STABILISER DROP LINK / SWAY LEFT & RIGHT
2 x REAR STABILISER DROP LINK / SWAY LEFT & RIGHT
2 x FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM inc BALL JOINTS
2 x REAR BUSHES (WITH BRACKETS / FIXINGS)
2x Front Anti Roll Bar Bush

Basically replacing everything in the front except the suspension itself - maybe in a few months as its a major cash investment.

Strictly speaking I didn't buy this this week, but I have used it this week.
I bought it last year either in the spring or in September from a Super Target near the villa. They always have some Megiiars products on sale in their motoring aisle.

I've had new oil and filters for the Silver 3.0 waiting in the wings for the last few weeks, nice and sunny today, so did a quick change ready for some top down driving tomorrow.
Also had a new aerial rubber thing delivered in the week, but that's going on the Green Machine in the next week or so...
