I am well happy with them mate, this is the finish that I hoped for, just hope I can achieve the same on the seats, its getting exciting now

I was certainly a lot happier when I started spraying them, the spec says to apply 2 coats with a sponge before spraying,

Is that to seal the leather a bit before spraying? I'll be following this with interest as our Lotus White is not White anymore

Firstly you have to thoroughly strip the top coat with solvent and a scotch brite so that the leather becomes porous, this allows the new dye to soak in so it is not like leather paint and sat on the top, thats why the first couple of coats are wiped on apparently, I have had a few conversations with a guy called Duncan at the leather clinic and taken his advice, he said done correctly they will last for years.

Had an hour today and got the gaitors done, thats the easy stuff out of the way, I am going in on Thursday to get the passenger seat ready to dye and hopefully will get it done on Saturday.

Its very labour intensive mate, enjoyable on your own gear but it could well get a bit boring doing someone else's, for this amount of work you would have to charge around £500

In retrospect, doing one set a week from home would make a half decent wage when I retire

Managed to get some time today and get the blue base coat on the passenger seat, I won't put the clear coat and final finish on until the black is on.
