E89 She arrived... dead battery, boot locked, no circuit / connectivity to battery

Well.... on the plus side it seems to have read all the codes - 50 issues, but not surprising thanks to the car's corner damage, airbags blown, flat battery, roof problems, etc.
Re: Carly itself, it let me run off just ONE DTC summary report and no more, it won't let me click on the issues it found (e.g. it just says 8 engine issues and doesn't let me click into them for details) AND it won't let me reset the codes. So I will probably send it back on Monday, as this lite version is really crap considering I forked out £80 for their adaptor.

Carly is an expensive setup..
I have the adaptor and full version, but I would spend the money on something else if I had my chance again.

Have you looked at INPA? Does anyone know if that will work on a 2014 Z4 (E89)?

As i understood it you have to pay the £80 just for the reader, if you want to be able to reset/change anything you then need to be paying for the subscription. Its the main reason that has put me off to be honest.

Yep - I am thinking of sending it back - they give you one report after spending £80 for their adaptor, then to do anything with it you have to pay subscription fees.

Do you guys use INPA or ISTA+ or something else ?

I wanted one in that colour they look stunning but i couldnt find the right spec car. Little update from me in case people find my post in years to come :), I managed to find a BMW specialist in Lytham St Annes who have experience with z4 roofs.

Update today,
Rear left microswitch is caput
Battery on last legs.

Price
£155.95 to supply and fit new switch
£219.94 to supply and fit new battery
£42.00 diagnostic fee.

Fingers crossed, a bit of a result!

They have reminded me that my MOT is due next month, drat.

Good luck with the MOT - and good to hear your roof is fixed. I wish we could plug in a basic diagnostic tester and get told what exactly what the fault was. I am just about to pay for the full Carly licence which "should" give me the details of my roof problem.

That's good news and a relief too I'll bet.

Tony.

actually - almost perfect - I noticed that when the roof is closed, the rear nearside of Panel 2 does not seat as close to the body as the offside. I'm sure one of the threaded bars would influence this, but no idea which one to screw and n which direction.

That is really useful - thanks for sending it. I checked under the boot lid (removed the 15 plastic rivets and only lost one ) and it's not there. And its nowhere near the interior mirror.... should it be? Sat nav has never worked since I got the car... I don't know where to look now.

Carly is spot on if you have the full version especially for coding and diagnostics, problem is its expensive now, luckily I got the lifetime version so no annual subscription
Did you subscribe? wont work with just the adaptor
