I got back from Bahrain a week ago, was feeling a bit lethargic and while I was sitting in the office I was struggling to get a good lung full of air. Then I developed a cough that made me feel like I was going to break my ribs every time I coughed. It got progressively worse as the week went by. I spent Saturday and Sunday in bed, sweating and coughing. I messaged my work to tell them I wouldn't be in this week as I haven't felt as ill as this, … ever.
I've always enjoyed good health and haven't had any sick leave for 12 years (confirmed today by the doc)
Went to see the doctor today and apparently I was just in time to prevent me probably never having to worry about anything ever again
I've got fluid on my left lung, my blood pressure is low, my body temperature is high and my pulse rate is high.
What started out as a chest infection has developed into Sepsis but luckily for me we've caught it before it can do me some serious damage. I've been prescribed strong antibiotics and doc says it should clear in a week.
When I got home from the doctors I've searched online and it's scared me sh**less.
I'm still quite lethargic, mainly because I haven't eaten,(my last proper meal was last Wednesday, I've only had a few slices of toast since) but I'm taking plenty of fluids, and as I've got an extra bit of padding the doctor said he's not too concerned about my lack of appetite, I reckon the way I'm going I could drop a stone this week.

That's not good mate, take care and a speedy recovery. A good mate of mine was not so lucky a few years ago, went quick too :(

Wow. A very fortunate intervention there. Get better soon.

I'll lay odds it's more than a stone you end up losing though.

Thanks Andy, to be honest I didn't realise how serious Sepsis could be until I did a bit of online research. Sorry to hear about your friend. I intend to be around for a while yet, well, hope it turns out that way

Hope it clears up quickly.
Strong antibiotics and good clean Cornish Air, and you’ll soon be on the mend !

Bloody hell, that must have been frightening!!
Hopefully the antibiotics will do their job! Get well soon.

Get well soon mate.

Tony.

Don't rush things and make sure your properly fixed. Sometimes these little warnings remind us we are not indestructible.

That's not good Gary, glad you caught it in time, a bit of a warning to everyone I think. Look after yourself until you are properly recovered.

Blimey get well soon I'd put everything to one side and look after your health, nothing is more important

Doctor said I should be ok in a week as long as I finish the course of medication. He says we've caught it in time so all should be good. As I said in my opening post I've always enjoyed good health and haven't had the need to take antibiotics, or any meds really, apart from my blood pressure stuff, so anything I do take usually works because I haven't built up any resistance to them.

Take it easy and hope you get better soon :p

I had whooping cough about 6 years ago , and I had to stay indoors, I was off work for a couple of months , I even had London hospital phoning me up with advice.

Bloody hell Gary, take it easy and rest up for a while. Sick pay is there for times like this.
Sepsis nearly finished me off in 2015 whilst I had my long stay in hospital. They gave me 24 hours, it's a nasty bugger for sure, pleased you caught it in time. Get well soon mate.

Yep it sure is a shitter of a thing to catch.
I caught it when i was in after my Prostate Operation, Started with the Rigors (uncontrollable violent shakes) then uncontrollable vomiting blood pressure dropped dramatically and ended up having a cannula in my Jugular. Not nice at all

Pleased it was caught in time to be treated Gary, seems you've had a bit of luck.
Hope you have a speedy recovery mate.

Glad to hear you caught it in time.

Hope your better soon.
