Full weekend and little to no progress.
Made up the new brake pipes but the flaring tool is pretty crap and often doesn't hold the pipe tight enough. So have got close to fitting them.

Some fool fitted the beam bushes wrong so that's a step backwards. Will have to take it to a different garage next weekend.

Then Kate has done nothing but moan saturday so I've had to waste a full sunny Sunday shopping for her holiday clothes.

great pic of your dog. Had to keep our Fred out of the garage when I was working because he keeps nicking the tools. If I put one down he'd pick it up and walk off with it. Biggest problem was he'd just drop them somewhere and then go back for another one =))
He chewed the head off me rubber mallet too, must taste better than Baker's Special Mix

Good work Dave.

Someone needs to do a little how to with pictures on how to drop the rear end. It's a task I've been wanting to do for a while - to replace the bushes, struts and springs - had originally wanted to take it down to the Zedshed to get it done but I want to paint the trailing arms and tidy a few bits up at the same time so probably more convinient if I do it at home.

If anyone can put together a rough ''how-to guide" that would be awesome!

A few of us have sort of. Unfortunately the threads that used photobucket are missing the photos now.

Why are people still awake at this time of night?

If I take some well positioned snaps when reassembling the car, I could probably upload them in reverse order therefore showing a how to remove step by step haha.
Not sure how long it will be before it' all done mind.

That would be brilliant! I'm in no rush as I plan to get some driving in this year so probably won't start any work until September.

I agree with @Faheem , I also want to do a full upgrade but now the sun has come out don’t want to take it off the road.
Having said that, the dreaded MOT is in about 3 weeks, so will see how it gets on, and if it fails on any rear end bushes, then might as well get the whole lot done in one go.
After reading the problems encountered by @Davyhoogy I am now being swayed towards the poly bushes. More for the ease of re-assembly.

I would advise it. Twice the cost but 10x easier. It sounds like a 5min install. It's now a 2 week install for me haha

I'll copy this here. I paid 35 for the rubber ones so may as Well pay an extra 10 for these

I did mine last year and would strongly recommend getting a couple of mates to help you with the beam removal and refit stages. It is heavy and very awkward removing and re-fitting the rear beam/diff by yourself.
I found pressing in the new bushes fairly easy using a length of 12mm all thread bar, nuts and washers with some adapters made from plywood. The main difficulty for me was getting the old bushes out, so find a friendly workshop to do this for you in advance. Check that all of the fasteners for the beam and fixings can be loosened before you commit to full dis-assembly and if you have a one piece exhaust make sure you can get the manifold joint nuts freed off at the same time.
