Are you replacing the brake hoses with stainless ones Davy? If you are it doesn't really matter about pinching the rubber hoses with Mole type grips but it's not a good idea. Best practice it to push the brake pedal down with a piece of wood or something just enough to push the master cylinder piston past the inlets in the cylinder. This will stop the reservoir emptying out.

Definitely worth doing Davy, those that Murray Wall are selling are a great deal so if he still has them buy them mate. Don't get too hung up on the colour cos you don't see much of them when fitted.

Well worth it and just in time my the looks of it. It’s going to drive very differently when you done.

Completely disassembled now. Made a tiny start to rust removal then my battery died so have 2 on charge for tomorrow.

Got back home last night and with 2 hours of daylight left I had a quick blast with a few things.
Few new bits waiting for me in the post though.

My dewalt batteries are turd so I can only clear rust for about 10minutes before they are both dead.
Cleaned up a few bits and gave them paint. Also started to remover the panels on the car to see what the damage is. Front wheel arch liners have some rounded bolts so couldn't get into the front bold for the sills and wings.
I should be finished at a reasonable time today so hopefully alot more sanding to be done. God it's boring.

Good stuff pal, I'll be doing my rear once the front is done and the inner sills are on

Great work .

If your batteries are rubbish go buy yourself a dirt cheap corded power drill for rust removal. They will outlast the job and so much less faff ( I have a cheap b&q) One for these jobs .

My neighbour came over and said I could borrow his, he must have heard me swearing at the batteries =))
I would just buy one but I'm getting close to £400 spent so far without new sills yet, so I want to keep the spend down a bit.
It seems to just be polishing the rust anyway, and not taking off the thick stuff.

Good work David. I had my new sills and front wings sprayed by a shop in Rowlands Gill. Cost £200 and made a really nice job of it including stone guard coating on the underside of the sill (as per originals).
Parts were sprayed off the car and colour matched to the full paint code. I Waxoyled the inside face before fitting them myself and the colour match is really good.
Let me know if you want details.
Your inner sills look in great condition. I notice your axle stands are under the jacking points. If you can, move them (e.g. to the front wishbone bracket) and take a look under the plastic jack pad. This was the worst area for rust on my inner sills.
Keep up the good work.

Agree with removing the rubber jacking points as mine has the rust behind them.
