No Derek, Haynes never made one. I'm sure there is an E36 manual on the internet that you can down load in PDF, then print the relative pages. The engines were used in both cars I beleive. @ zedonist will know for sure.

This DIY procedure is not for a Zed but it covers most of the work required for an M44 style filter and is a just as good as the TIS

As already said there is a Haynes Manual for the 3-Series which covers some of the Z3, if you want a manual for the Z3 then you need to dig deep about £50 - £70 for the Bentley Z3 Manual:

so todays the day i got my big goofy looking grin back whilst the wind was in my hair 
oil leak fixed, took about 4 hours to strip down to the oil filter housing replace gasket and relevant O rings, also changed the alternator belt for good measure, managed to give the engine bay a bit of a clean as there was oil everywhere.
checked the gearbox oil also.
now I'm not mechanically minded really but i don't mind getting my hands dirty and stuck in and as the Z3 was bought for me to play with this was an ideal time
