Rebody Oh no. It's not another 507 Rebody. Oh yes it is!

I currently have 16*225/45 or 50 on the back. I'm thinking i need tall tyres. No lower profile. Fill the arches rather than lower them. . . . Maybe.
If you just increase the profile it will put your speedo out and can affect DSC/ASC functioning correctly.
www.willtheyfit.com is an excellent resource for playing around with wheel and tyre sizes.

Around 2-3% difference to OEM seems to be the acceptable maximum without any ill effects.

It's my Z3 removable hardtop. I suppose I could have sold it. But I really wanted to see what it would look like.

Our 'tribute 507' body panels are higher than standard Z3 so the hardtop needs a lot of material cutting away to make it fit.

Here it is bolted down properly front and rear with a fairly consistent 1/2 inch gap all the way round.

I'm still trying to decide if I like the look. What do you guys reckon? Yay or Nay?

I like it- gives a real period look
 
I quite like it. I think you will need to use the side windows as your datum.

Sorting out the wheels inside the wheel arches will be another difficult bit. It looks like you will need a bigger diameter tyre/wheel combination, and that will affect other things.

Sorting mine to look right meant the ride height is wrong. My rear suspension is actually 23mm too high on the rear and 20mm too high on the front, but you wouldn't know it to look at it. This has affected all the suspension settings, and lots of things underneath have had to be compromised - but I think it looks right :cool: .

That's where I'm at right now. Ride height looks like the car is on tippy toes 😂

It's going in for the mot today. Will sort the ride height after.

Looking at bc racing coilovers as they're height and damper adjustable.

Have you got any pics of how your car sits (before and after lowering).

Mine is purely for aesthetics 😀

After seeing your hardtop mod, I've contacted the guy I sold mine to last year as I know he's looking to sell. I've offered him slightly less than he paid me....well it is the summer. Not heard back though 😬

I'll keep an eye out for one

I really like your rear tub to bumper gap. Mine isn't as close as that but as I'm going to have to redo the bumpers, I'll see about closing it up.

I spoke with a vehicle wrapper yesterday. I've sent pics and am awaiting his response. I'll probably have to flat off the spray chrome and 2k primer them again 😖

I'm not just looking at the gap at the top. I'm looking at the gap all round.

The picture is at a bit of an angle but my gap is pretty much the same all round. I don't think it will look good if I just drop the car a couple CM because the big gap before and behind the wheel will still be there.

Aesthetically a car just looks good if the gaps are same top, front, and behind the wheel.

So, in my mind, the only way I can do that is to increase the size, ie diameter of the tyre.

It's only natural that this bold attempt of yours would be met with a resounding 'no'. However, if successful, it looks like it will be a very special 507. So I said yes

The following photo is 507 from the Korean Museum. The tires are significantly larger than our standard Z3, and the arches are also taller. The ground clearance is also over 200mm. Therefore, I am of the opinion against lowering the ride height. The shorter a girl's skirt, the sexier she is.
