Nice to see your bumpers are still looking relatively chrome like. Mine appear to be getting worse with every exposure to the sun. Mine now look rose gold in all weathers

The only job I outsourcedI filled in the 500 on the boot handle and got him to do it at the same time as the bumpers. Maybe I should have left the boot handle as the fiat factory chrome effect.
You guys ( you and @Dxbolton ) both have "OIB" reg plates. Any significance in that? ie bought at the same time? Or some members only club?

I looked high and wide. Saw a few 507 plates that were out of the budget I'd set. I could have used my own 10 STB reg number that I have on my van but fancied something different on the zed.
Liked the OIB of Dan's as it looked nice on the plate....loads of numbers to chose from but really liked the 250......I know it's a ferrari number.
So bottom line is Dan was the shepherd and I was the sheep.
I've got my legal plates in the boot of the car. Had them in the boot for the mot and the tester all was fine

Car full of youths with hats on backward. Speeding, broken exhaust and whatever else - cops look the other way. Last thing the bizzies want is to spend all day filling in forms to give a bunch of cheeky yutes a telling off.
But clean looking gent in a decent car. Yep. We'll pull him. Nice easy collar and we'll be on our way to the donut shop in no time.
Done a rattle can job on the Hardtop to make it - almost - the same as the rest of the body/gelcoat.

Got to hand it to you mate, you don't mind getting 'stuck in' with this fibre-glassing lark.
I can't think of anything worse than being up to my elbows in sticky, messy, stinky, splintery fibre glass. Then sanding the horrible stuff for hours.
Good end result.

Hey guys, @Dxbolton , @Piran , @10stb Can I ask. What did you do with the plastic under tray things? The very front one sticks out below the bumper with nothing at the front to attach it to. I'm thinking of going commando and not wearing any. Maybe rig up a small shield over the fuel filter but, for the rest, I'll chuck them in the bin.
The gearbox tunnel on the herald is a piece of cardboard soaked in wax/oil so you should be fine
I've left mine off but haven't had her out driving yet

Oh. That's interesting (fuel filter cover). Mine just has a big plastic cover extending over most of the area under the passenger side floor. No metal cover. RealOEM shows different covers greyed outbon different models. I need to look in to this and see if I can just use the small metal one.

Mine is a 98/99 Prefacelift, with the later twin Vanos engine. It’s a crossover model I guess, if that makes a difference to how they were built.
Mine's pre facelift too. 99.
I only have the big plastic cover. #1 in the diagram.
I assume the metal cover is #2 in the diagram? Maybe I 'should' have one and some lazy barstool didn't bother fitting it after a service.
I'll ask @spurs fan in a coupe if he has one. Assuming I have the necessary studs for it.
The next time you take that excellent hard hard top off would it be worth placing a long piece of card along the new Lower edge and tracing the outline to form a template ? Or is the general feeling that the 507 panels don't fit consistently enough for others to use the same template?
I don't think anyone could, or should, use a template made from my car.
Each car is slightly different. Each one is installed different too. I think my rear panel is mounted a bit high in the front/middle. The left isn't the the same shape as the right.
Tribute did make me an extra sheet of grp moulded around the front of the rear deck but I couldn't use it as intended but it certainly helped, a lot, as a guide and as material to fill the gaps.The roof needs so much cutting off that it's no longer directly above the body and it's just a case adding and removing material by eye. The roof is also double skinned with a metal bracket for the rubber seal. All that has to be chopped off. If you have a hardtop you'll know what I mean.
For a lot of the work I had the roof suspended over the car as I was working.
Don't want to put you off. It's a lot of work but I think it's worth it.
