Has anyone had to endure the new testing standards yet?

Tony.

I've got 2 cars booked in for this weekend.

No, mine was due 26/05 but got it done last week, I asked the tester what he thought about the new rules, he shook his head and said "don't ask"

The same, done mine last Tuesday.

Engine management light came on, on the way to drop off at the garage. Would have been a fail today ;)

EML light on is now a fail??
:(

I don't think my Z will pass this year :(

I had a thought the other day...

There are some establishments that only do MOTs - they don't do repairs (BT Fleet for example). What happens if they find a Dangerous Fail?

They charge you rent....:(

A good opportunity for someone with a car trailer for hire business:whistle:.

I'd just tow it away if I wasn't allowed to drive it.

Excuse my ignorance and naivety but, if your car fails an MOT, you can't drive it away???

Under the new rules that is correct. It immediately becomes unroadworthy even if some of the current MoT remains.

I postulated that as a business opportunity a few weeks ago. :D Kerching!!!

It’s going to give dealers a headache if they take a customer’s car for MoT and it fails.
It means they can’t use the MoT as a cheap diagnosis tool.

I pointed this out aways back. We have such an outfit in Lincoln , "We only M.O.T." they're on an industrial estate with limited parking and they test a lot of vehicles each day. So much misinformation and clap trap its total confusion. Our boss will think it's a license to print money but sooner or later the men who do the work will get sick of constant pressure of work and it will end badly. I can't see how the Police will have any more time than they have now to look for people taking their failed cars home after test so nothing is likely to change.

Tony.

Not read the manual yet Steve, to be honest mate. Does that apply even if it passes the emission test?

Tony.

ps. I really do not want to go back to that crap.
