While I had the N/S front wheel off yesterday afternoon I had a look at fitting the front braided hoses, looks like a job for next Saturday afternoon if all goes well. I've acquired a pressure brake/clutch bleeder so easy to bleed after fitting the hoses.
Following some good advice from a couple of members I'm going to stick with the standard 300mm front and 294mm rear discs, upgrading them to drilled and grooved MTec parts and some upgraded pads to complete the brake upgrade.
Not changing the front callipers will free up a bit of money to allow me to do all the brakes at once, and as my everyday car that's probably the best way to go.

Tony.

ps. I also discovered that since I lowered my car I have to run the wheels onto a piece of 2" timber to allow my trolley jack under the jacking point, even after removing the cup from the trolley jack!
Here's hoping the Mtech brakes don't take as long to bed in as the Black Diamond ones I fitted Tony, and they're still not any better than the standard ones I took off .
Might try some different pads eventually.

Really? I thought they'd be well bed in by now, you'd expect a decent feel under pedal, bit strange that mate.

Yep,not much feel tbh and they are bedded in now, must have dine a few thousand miles on them now.
After what I'd heard about them i was expecting eye popping stopping power, but not so. Maybe I did something wrong when fitting them, not sure.

I have the black diamond predator pads Tony, thought they'd be a good combo as it's there own brand to match the discs.
I've had them stinking hot to the point that when you pull up and get out the car you can hear them popping and crackling. They would be no good in an emergency stop either .

That's not good mate, I'd be interested to hear what @Lee might think.

I haven't because in the literature that came with them it states they should be fitted by a garage so I guess all they'll say is get it checked out at a garage.

OK but it is performance related mate. You couldn't have fitted them incorrectly or they wouldn't have fitted! See what @Lee comes back with and then I'd still have a word with them.

Can't think why that would cause any issues calling them. Of course you had them fitted by a garage

I went with MTech discs with Yellow Stuff pads and they easily bedded in within 50 miles.

Yeah that's odd guys. I'll throw some ideas out there, Is the brake fluid up to the job? Might not be giving a firm enough feel or even air in the brakes.

I also agree about changing the pads I've not used the black diamond pads before, I have a feeling I was told not to use them but I couldn't comment personally.

You could always cut two holes in the floor and buy some new trainers like Fred Flinstone did in the Ad!=))

On a serious note though, don't you know anyone near you who could check out the fitting for you and if necessary start the job again
from the beginning? Not worth driving about with that problem, too risky mate.:stop:

It would be worth fitting some bog standard pads just to see the difference, one way or the other. I think Steve said previously that he had the brake fluid changed recently, if not it's an easy job.

Thanks for all the feed back chaps, much appreciated.
Renewed the brake fluid when I did the Caliper paint job and refit.
But a recent development is that there is some steering wheel judder when braking as if the disks are warping again but surely not after a few thousand miles on performance stuff ?.
Might have to talk nicely to our tame mechanic @t-tony and change the brake fluid again for what it costs. Should be an easier job with that new toy you have .
Could also just try front Pagid pads as well maybe.

I would certainly change the pads mate, sound dangerous, you have probably warped discs due to the excess braking your having to do
