Aw cheers ! Am I going to Shirebrook ? I dunno, am I going to Shirebrook ? Should I go to Shirebrook ? When is Shirebrook ? So . . . Probably a No then ? I must have missed that one . . .

Ferrite - in theory, yes, closest to the camera. In practice closest to the source of the RFI, except I cant see where it is on mine (and modern cars really should be shielded so its no longer a problem, but mine is). My cable currently comes down the inside of the windscreen and lies on top the dash to the door pillar. I've got the ferrite there. It tends to slide back towards the door pillar and stops working, the image starts doing the funky gibbon wobble again. I've currently got it held in place temporarily with a piece of bluetack so it stays next to the windscreen and doesn't slide. It seems to cure the issue, but I'm not sure I've really got the source yet.

Bottom line - trial and error, and only if you have the problem.
I remember fitting coils on a handheld video camera and they suggested to open the coil and take one wrap around the coil then close it back up. That would prevent it sliding?

Tony.

Shirebrook 26th September.
No need to book looking at meeting up at Ollerton for those of us upt north and anyone else who fancies a drive in together for the short run to Shirebrook
Ah, thats why - thanks Paul. It's Herselfs opening Concert that day. I have to be there. I saw have, I mean want . . .

But thanks, if its cancelled, I'll make sure I get to OMcD's in time for . . . . (wait for it) . . . a sausage & egg mcmuffin and a double espresso please . . . !

Yes . . . But a ferrite is a solid lump if you open it - no wires to wrap. I remember in 1st year someone asked the lecturer how it worked - wizardry was the reply (we asked for that)

Exactly right ! No coils . . . It clips over the cable but its never a totally snug fit.
This is how I fit them, as per instruction book with video camera.

Looks a nice motor Tony, if you're as chuffed with your E89 as I am with mine you'll be doing well! Look forward to seeing it around sometime

Absolutely loving it Pete. Having a ride down to Grantham this afternoon to get Cruise Control done, I miss that from the old car..

Left home for Grantham this afternoon around 2.10, arrived around 4.30 (ish) . 40 minutes later I left for home and arrived around 7.15. The A1 was a nightmare, as were all the local roads and villages. Anyway, the upshot of the trip is I now have Cruise Control on my E89.

Very nice Tony albeit what sounds an exasperating journey to achieve the end goal. How long does the trip normally take?

Satnag said 40 minutes. I can usually do Grantham, via Lincoln and the A607, in that time from home.

Only 40 minutes to fit the cruise control? Or had you dropped the car off previously?

Just 40 minutes to fit a switch and code it. Clever chap. He also coded a couple of other bits with his Carly too.
