This afternoon having done my weeks shopping I got the Z on the ramp and made a start on this lot.

By teatime I had got this one done, ready for bleeding when the others are done.

If all goes well it should all be done by tomorrow evening.

All wasn't well and yesterday afternoon found a big problem. I got the other front brake finished and stripped the 1st rear one. All going well until the fitting of the new hose.

Yep. Way too short. On the phone to the maker and he said it should be 680mm long. The old rubber one was but the S/S one only 560mm. Bugger! Anyway he has promised to send more over night so I should hopefully get it done tomorrow.

Thanks for this post. I'm planning on doing mine and now I know to check all the parts before undoing anything.

To be fair, it does state in the destructions to check before doing anything.
But, in my defence I did check the fronts and had already fitted them,
so one big assumption later I started on the rear end. ;)

Replacement hoses arrived just after 10.00. Got them fitted by lunch.

Or, . . . . . . maybe not. 1ltr of fluid later and no pedal. No more fluid and no car to fetch any. Hoping Graham gets my text to bring some later.:(
Ever wished you had left things alone?=))

Graham dropped me off 2 ltrs of brake fluid at dinner time so when I'd had my lunch it was out into the gaage to bleed some more.
An hour later, wheels back on and out for a roadtest.

All it could've been is air Dave. People talk about needing to run the ABS pump but we never did at work, just used the pressure bleeder. All's well that ends well.

Here's a little job.

I've been noticing a smell occasionally which, it appears, is oil coming from the rocker gasket dropping onto the exhaust. Gaskets ordered (£71.00).

This week saw these struts painted.

Rain saw me paint these inside giving the car a pinkish hue so today saw a machine polish to get back to white.

As it was raining today (just for a change) I thought I would have a look at the oil leak from my rocker cover.
When I got the trim off and removed the coils I discovered oil in the webs of the rocker cover.

20240528_141400.jpg

At this point I saw the front end was dry and the centre (under the valvetronic) was the wettest. I decided to use my vacuum suction tool to remove the oil. I decided to number the coils while I was in there using a silver Sharpie.
20240528_123147.jpg

Then rinsed with brake cleaner and sucked out again.
Then, when putting the cover back on I spotted the decal on the door mirror and realised I had 2 more somewhere. Problem was, where?
20240528_163157.jpg

Found them after a while, a long while that is.

I'll take the top off again and see if the valvetronic unit is leaking. If it is I'll buy a gasket and replace that when I change the rocker cover gasket.
