Yeah read that one a while back. There are many things i would try but for 120 quid i'd pay the man that can and get it done.

............and there is a horror story on this forum about doing that.
Mike - if you mean @joepig 's saga - he did accidentally and unfortunately disconnect the plug in unit with battery still connected. That I think was sheer bad luck. There are numerous other people who have re-programmed with no problems myself included.

joepig did find this link during his efforts to rectify fault http://www.ow.no/archive/eba/50.PDF which is very comprehensive.

Agreed Andy - mine is 12/97 build - 4/98 registered. I have the certificate of installation conformity that it was fitted by BMW GB dated 4/98.

Thanks Jonco but I dont
Might be worth firstly checking you have the siren under bonnet and then control box behind glove compartment - if you do you may just need new fob and programming. @Antm72 's price of £120 including fob is then quite attractive as a new fob will cost you half of that. Good luck.

Have a word @joepig as I sent him two remotes.
One went on to another forum member and the one he kept, I don't think he is using.

Yes that was the case here but until it bogged off to university! :D
My eldest has just started a 3 year College Motor Mechanics Course, which is nice. he's chomping at the bit to start maintaining the McDonnell fleet so this XMas he can help me with my rear pads and discs.:scorecard:

Good call Andy! I do believe Zed shed Lincoln depot is giving me a hand eh @t-tony! I truly wish I'd gone down the mechanics route instead of HGV driving. I know the mechanics on here will say noooooooooooo don't be a stupid t*** as I would if anyone asked my advise on doing their HGV licence but I really wish I had better knowledge on the spanners. To late now for me :(. Sorry :offtopic:
