Where did you get your paint mixed at Davy? I've used Halfords in the past but a lot of Motor Body Specialists now do aerosols.

Tony.

ps. Last ones I had done at Fisher Motor Factors in Lincoln.

Well it was 3 for 2 at halfords so i got white primer and clear lacquer, they did have z3 arctic silver, so ive got that, we will see what its like when finished. Shouldnt really look too out of place as its only the base

Seems to be a good match after a 2nd coat. Should i sand the last coat of paint before clearing?

I would gently flat the colour with at least 1200 wet and dry before lacquering, and before the last coat of clear too.

Looks a good job

You have no chance of folding it off the car, they are a nightmare to even try but once it's on it should be a smooth as silk. As it's off the car, you will need to fold if before putting the covers back on otherwise you cover the holes to bolt it to the door. Bolt it on the door as it is and then fold it, take it off and put the covers back on then bolt it back on the door. Unless the covers can be put back on when it is back on the door?

I put it on / take it off stripped down so i can just get an allan key in there to tighten it without folding. Then put it all back together on the car.

Urgh the clear went on quite blotchy even though the silver was lovely. One thing led to another and were back to fibreglass =)):banghead:

The cancelling "lug" couldn't have been quite in the right position mate.
