This means the dash has to come out again and I've not long replaced the leather on the speedo pod :banghead: I couldn't really turn them down for £20 though! Not sure on whether to dye the rest of the extended leather I have yet as well as the seats or just fit these pods. I will decide once fitted I think.

Also the secondary air pump has started to sound like an air plane on start up, much like my old one did and where it is attached to the bracket the holders have corroded away meaning it rocked all over the place. The noise can be stopped by disconnecting the pump but then you need to fit a blanking plate and as it is not needed in the UK it is perfectly acceptable to do this.

The air pump system units

All removed

Gasket and blank in place plus a grommet blank over the pipe and no more noisy pump

Couple more jobs to do this week as well.

Well if you decide not to fit the dash

Now, I have often wondered what this is, what does it do exactly.

It does F-all mate, dump it. You don't need it, all extra weight Sean.

It pumps fresh air directly into the exhaust gases on cold startup whilst fuel is being enriched. Designed to reduce emissions for the US market.
Not all UK Zeds have them.

Forgot to update

Had the braided brake hoses on a couple of weeks now. Fitting was very straight forward and went without any problems. Unlike others, the hoses didn't actually push through the brackets and I only needed to fit washers as the joins were not tight enough against each other. Couple of pics, 6 hoses in total 2 of which are at the front and 4 (2 each side) at the rear. And yes, it is filthy underneath!

There is a slight improvement I think but not a massive difference although I haven't really done much stamping on the brakes so time will tell on how good they are. They look nice and won't need changing again anyway.

Next was the braided clutch hose, normally a mod done to remove the CDV although mine didn't have one.

Standard

New

Notice how the new one doesn't have the 45 degree bend at the master cylinder meaning it sits very close to the body, ideally it needs the bend as we had to knock the body back slightly so it won't catch and break if there is any movement in the gearbox. And honestly for the hassle it was to change it, there has been no noticeable difference whereas there is when you replace one for one with a CDV.

I've also added some colour to my needles on the speedo, similar to the ones fitted to the ///M and whilst it was out I put 3 LED bulbs in which has brightened it up a bit. I do have another mod which I have done but I need to change it so I will update on this when it's finished :ymdevil:

Very nice pal, top work as normal, where did you source you LED dash bulbs, mine is coming out at the weekend for a colour change so I may as well replace the bulbs.

I only replaced the 3 main ones which light up the cluster. They are just standard 501's you use for sidelights. When you split the cluster you will see them, just pull them out and put new ones in or twist out the holders from the rear and pull them from the holders when you have twisted the holders out.

Thanks pal, I never realised they where the same as the side lights.

Neither did I, if I knew it was so easy I would have done it a while ago. You can get the LED versions of the warning light bulbs I think and there are around 20. I couldn't be bothered with these though as they only work one way and I didn't fancy changing them and having to try each one with the cluster back in to check they were all working although there is probably an easier way to make sure they go in correctly to start with.
