Nice hoops  I thought you were in the process of "de chroming" your car...Although the hoops are technically stainless steel :) do you have any shiney bits for sale other than your old hoops?
I was, but the Schnitzer hoops are a thing of beauty! I did think about spraying them black but that's a no go. The interior will still have its chrome touches here and there, just the exterior that is getting toned down. No shiny bits for sale just yet.

I''m doing the same thing @g8ka and also blackening the interior. I have a set of black anodized ACS PEDALS and Southernboy did me up an anodized black shifter surround so pretty much dechroming the interior as well! JIM

I have ordered the splitter and will get it fitted. A really useful item on long trips.

Couple more jobs have been done recently. I cleaned under the front and rear arches and painted with silver paint on the parts that are visible and weren't covered in underseal last year. The brake pipes still need cleaning up and painting and I still want to do the whole of the underside of the car plus some parts under the bonnet.

I've changed the sidelight markers and side repeaters for black units to continue with some of the black accents I've added to the car.

The neo chrome wheel nuts I put on a few months ago started to flake and rust like a lot of them do so I've ditched them and put some red ones on instead. Hopefully they will last longer than the last set.

Finally got the AC Schnitzer hoops installed with a home made tinted deflector, complete with curved top and angled bottom to allow access to the storage box. Chrome steel ties have been used to install it so they are not visible against the hoops and I've added a cheap dash camera to film footage from the rear.

Like what you've done with the screen, and limit the sighting of the fixings. Real clever. You should go back to OEM black bars, I've got a set I'd put in part X.:D

Roy.

You got yourself a great motor there , a good bit of elbow grease but well worth the effort ! Top marks.

Which front splitter did you use and where did you get the black side markers, trying to decide if they'd better suit my car than the clear ones I've got?

Splitter is a Rieger one, normally about £100 I think. There was one for sale on here a few months back, may still be available. The side marker lights you can get from eBay. Should look good on your car with the dark wheels and headlights.

@g8jka what was the verdict between the two 2.8's did you both do some brain storming after a few runs?

I think @gookah puts it down to his old age and his reactions not being as fast!

It could be the difference in manifold conversions, mine is from an M54 3.0 and his is the M54 2.2 I belive. Both look and fit the same but I think there are differences inside. Until he bolts the 3.0 one on he won't be sure. Also he said something about the air filter on his.

Just excuses really =))

Be interesting to know what makes my brothers E36 2.8 single vanos faster especially in a bigger car. He has the M50 manifold conversion and a couple of other things but it's a heavier car and I was still 0.3 behind his fastest. He had it on the rollers recently and it gave out 227 BHP from what I remember which is good going from the 2.8.

I hope you mean he has the 2.5 manifold from the E36, If he has the 2.2 that might be his problem :)

Might be worth both of you sticking them on the rolling road and checking the Air fuel ratio's etc that way you know if there's any issues, and of course the bragging rights.

I wonder if the E36 had the weight/grip advantage off the line, also what ratio is the E36 diff...

Both zeds are dual vanos and the later TU versions so both use M54 manifolds, not the M50 2.5 one. But his is either an M54B22 or M54B25 and mine is an M54B30 manifold. They both fit and look the same but have slightly different throttle body adaptors so we are not sure if there are any differences in performance. They will go on a rolling road at some point that will give us more idea.

He has changed the diff I think in the E36 to a 3.15 ratio one, but this is apparently the same that is fitted to the 2.8 Z3.

Looking good @g8jka decided to join up (not that I own a z but I have been on the stands with you) as far as I'm aware we both have the same ratio differential, I do need to correct you on my dyno result as it was 217.5 at the fly not 227 (wish it was) diff ration on mine is the 3.15 however I was told the diff had been rebuilt and the ramp angle adjusted from 25% lock to 40% lock, doubt that could make a difference though, mods on mine are as follows.....
M52b28 single vanos engine
M50 2.5 inlet
K&N gen 2 induction with heat shield
S50 full exhaust system inc headers
Fully bushed front end with strongflex yellow bushes
eBay polyurethane engine and gearbox mounts (this could help as the engine doesn't move around as much under load/braking/cornering)
And the bilstein b12 sportline kit
Followed by other cosmetics but they wouldn't make a difference to the performance
Hope this helps you guys figure out why I'm faster? I thought I would be slower due to the weight difference, however I've been told the single vanos engine delivers power better than the duel vanos

I think you've summed it up right there. The car will be so well setup for getting off the line. 0.3 don't sound a lot but will make all the difference.

If I'm right though @g8jka has the CDV delete where as I still haven't done this, suffering from clutch slip when going fast through the gears/launch off the line with contisportcontact 5 tyres that are 2 weeks old haha

Have either of you had the VANOS seals done, that could easily account for the difference in power.
