Cheers for the advise:thumbsup:
They do have their uses but not for welding thin mild steel like car bodywork.

Tony.

ps. Did you remove that steel outer ring from the old bush? It does need to come out, then the poly bush is child's play.

So, as my coolant dripped out onto the floor and I’ve mow decided once the rear is done to move onto the from coolant system, and while I’m there do a manifold upgrade . . .and that I’ve got an issue with the exhaust manifold and a rusty exhaust (phew £££) . . .check this video out . . .

View: https://youtu.be/VH2N44N0WGs
Does anyone know if there is anything in the headers swap. Haven’t found much and the headers shown in the video are different anyway, ie the ones they swap from have 2x cats on each side, mine only has one further down the exhaust. Pic of my header shape which doesn’t match either in video . . .

Today was bit and bobs, with underside cleaning . . .couldnt help myself and stripped the prop shaft, support fittings, and removed a tank strap that was almost double in size due to rust, also a few bolts, diff to beam and the caliper piston. Safety’s note: i hope all you lovely people are using appropriate glasses and gloves (using anti vibration gloves and works a treat) to protect yourselves! I had a metal piece of the grinders metal brush shot out and spear me in the leg, would have got a photo but at the time i just reacted and pulled it out quicker than swatting a wasp on the face. Pics to follow.

Removed my wheel arches and cleared out the dirt that gets caught in the sills, only to find quite a build up and upon investigation the paint around the area had damp and came off too easily, so that’ll need some work . . .

Cleaning all that surface rust off before it gets hold is a job well worth doing

Slow day today, pianted prepped areas, found more rust around the rear strut arches, cleaned and painted smaller tank strap . . . And did a lot of contemplating about the brake lines. Space the ASC box is limited and had it not been for the rust around the connection to the hoses i would leave them but it looks like someone has used the bunce in the line and dropped it once to do a connection leaving me with no option. Had a fiddle with the flaring too and seem a doddle so ill find a good section to tap into.

Question: once i cut the lines will i have a complete drain of the brake fluid on my hands? Hope not. Thinking of putting a double female section on and doing the flare on the existing then joining to a bent section to plug any pouring. We’ll see ha. Ive got to remove the lines to properly get to the hangers for derusting and painting. So far the job I’ve been most hesitant to do!

I think i lost about half the material off the smaller tank strap! Still ok though and as I’m painting with POR15 that’s probably stronger than the strap itself ha ha, still got some on me from last weekend, and a few more bits from today, some in my hair, oh well.

@spurs fan in a coupe, (don’t now how to attach members yet?) thanks for sourcing me the: screen washer bottle, centre vent and headlight switch! Got the new washer bottle in today which is sweet. Previous owner had left me a little surprise regarding cracked washer bottle with a bit of silicone to botch job until sale. Thanks , couldn’t find one anywhere!
