@ZedHead for your brakes, you need to find something to press the pedal in the car (I used a broom) if you do that the fluid will NOT drain and you can do cutting and replacing of stuff. Do not let the fluid drain, as it will requires unknown work to re-prime the ABS pump...

@spurs fan in a coupe, (don’t now how to attach members yet?) thanks for sourcing me the: screen washer bottle, centre vent and headlight switch! Got the new washer bottle in today which is sweet. Previous owner had left me a little surprise regarding cracked washer bottle with a bit of silicone to botch job until sale. Thanks , couldn’t find one anywhere!
My pleasure, your zed is getting a great overhaul, well done.

I like your broom idea, it seems my idea isn’t totally working as the fluid is slowly draining out the rear left:(

Keep the reservoir topped up to stop getting any air in the system.
Then You just need to keep pressure on the brake pedal which stops the fluid draining from the resovoir

Bush, good info but you kept me up last night, i saw the ziplock bag slowly filling with brake fluid and then had a vision of having to do the re-prime work, stopped by the petrol station on the way home and bought 2 bottles of dot 4 after having bought another bottle which will only get here tomorrow through amazon so . . .then got hame and the fluid had only drained to min line . . .good save peeps

I did however have a solution but seemed there was still play in the pedal, so jammed a wheel clock to be sure to be sure...

So today was finish painting under second tank strap, paint over boot welds, strut arches and start playing with the brake lines. Brake lines were tricky at first, trying to match the previous one by using side by side shaping was more of a pain in the behind than fitting and using a string to determine length and making my own way trying to give myself spare length for future repairs.

The little piece that fixes to the outside of the ARB link and which serves as a fixing point for the handbrake cable?

Attempted brake lines today, it been a big build up and after sizing, fitting and deciding where i wanted to connect i finally cut and tried to flare the brake line . . . Only problem is the old line doesn’t seem to flare to what i think is a good standard . . .

So this means faf connecting the new lines directly to the ASC and working in very tight space . . . Will have to wait until weekend until I have the time to make up the lines and fit in a day. Flaring I’ve found is quite easy and the bending of the cable using the tool is a major pain in the ass so I’ve chucked that aside, seen where the pipe wants to go and made it do so ensure it no touching = rubbing = wear. Found that a much easier way around the rear subframe too.
