Build your own car park

I think this is a great idea , for people with old houses and looking to be modern with out it being obtrusive. Top job love it ! :scorecard:

Your place is looking awesome Hugh

Hugh, that's looking fantastic mate. A real pat on the back from me!

Hugh it's great as everyone says. Might I suggest a small stone wall around the back surround of the stove. Serve two purposes, looks great and adds a bit of thermal mass to release passive heat if the wood stove goes out. Not much but at least a small amount. JIM

I really like the thought and imagination that's gone into all the work you've all done Hugh. Well done, you should all be proud of that.

Tony.

I did this with some 2 inch thick concrete slabs before putting a skim of plaster,I did think of using mortar but I went for the easy option, and the wood fire isn't for heating more for the novelty value as there is oil fired underfloor heating

The only thing I would be worried about is splinters in the feet humping on that bed.....
I've spent hours sanding that bed your more likely to get a splinter in a swimming pool than in that bed.and dependant on where you get it,have someone suck it out ;)

All in all Hugh it's a great successfull achievment , mixing with so fine solutions the old and the new! Loads of work, always find a better solution next day, but the satisfaction is priceless! At the end, when everything will be ready for the first guests, you will face the same feeling as giving the keys of your M, to a stranger, to have a trip of few days....but I hope you will survive to this test ! Thank you for the mine of ideas that you shared with us and for the feeling of "yes, we can!" In your team work!

Buddy if you had my debt,I've got assets and I can borrow money and if I cashed in everything I'd be sailing but it'll never happen.
Exactly right Hugh, we own 3 homes and on paper we're well off, but unless we ever sell them we have 3 homes which need maintaining, with all that that entails.

Tony.
