Spent most of the day in working in the garden as trying to make it easier to maintain !!!

But was thinking that I have been neglecting the 1.9 so I will do a few of the advisories over the next week or so…

Not an advisory , but something I have been meaning to do …. The aerial grommet.
View attachment 256595
surprisingly not leaking… but cracked and sealant all round it ( like it when I got the car)
View attachment 256597
Bit of spannering in the boot and aerial removed. And grommet just fell out

So a nice ring if sealant to remove!
View attachment 256599

Bit of meths and a soft cloth and it cane off.

Then sprayed the grommet with silicon and it went in really easily
View attachment 256603

Same thing on the aerial and pushed it in from the boot and again no problem.
View attachment 256605

Just a case of refitting all the stuff in the boot and screwing the antenna back on
View attachment 256607

One job done !! =))
Very useless. I still have mine to do.

Totally p***** off today…..

started getting all the drivers side panels back on, then the arch liners , so removed each wheel as I did them…..
Did the drivers side rear…. And when I put the wheel back on it didnt look right….. and its not…… its not aligned with the body… so either the beam , the trailing arm or the body is bent. Cant work out which….
Removed the wheel and put it back on in case it wasn’t seated correctly , but it bolts up to the hub ok

So could be lots of parts for sale soon !!! :banghead:

Are the body panels off the other car ? Would imagine you'd have to go some to bend the beam or trailing arms i.e you would have probably noticed before now

Didn’t you make a repair on one of the wings?
Could the mounting point be a bit low or high making one of the wings stick out a bit much or not enough?

Another thought about the trailing arms. The bushes have one flange thicker than the other. Do both sides match? I’m not sure if it’s possible to but if it is that possibly could make that difference.

Grasping at straws here, but just check if both hubs are fully home.

I would have thought any distortion to the arms would have had some evident damage. I can’t imagine the rear beam being culprit as mounting it I thought would have evidently been noticeably difficult aligning to the pins if it was distorted.

If your still stuck after checking my ideas which I’m sure is just me grasping at straws, have a word with Lee about trailing it to the shed and get it up on the lift, it might be better to take some measurements and have some other eyes cast on it.

Hi Mark,
The wing repair was the other side and it fitted perfectly. All the screws and fixings lined up ok.

took the wheels off and used a straight edge against the hub…. Pretty obvious something not right

so it would appear the trailing arm is bent, and the hub is not square to the mounting bushes…….so £450 down the f*****g drain

and I would have to find another one …. Dont know if I can be bothered now💩

That's a real heartsink to say the least! ( other more expressive words may be more appropriate!) But you know what the problem is & a man of your calibre can fix it. You can't give up now & fall at the final hurdle.
