And so it begins again

What did you use to remove the inevitable corrosion on the sill trims?

And how do you get the paint in the lettering only? I guess it’s sunk lettering. Can’t renember without looking!
There was very little corrosion and it was virtually gone after flatting the original top coat off, I just sprayed the whole thing and used 800 grit to flat the base coat off and then lacquered it.

@Sean d Will you be applying a Nano Coating to the Paint when you have finished it all

They will not protect against chips but are very good at preventing swirls from washing. I have had ours on since May last year and have never polished the car since and have only a few swirls which being a black car is very good as it shows up every mark ever created. I know there would of been more marks on it as when i go Europe i use wash n go spray cleaner and to only have a few swirls is amazing

It will get a good dose of straight Carnuba mould release, then I'm not sure

Just catching up on this thread after being away. Really love the colour choice. Austin looks so much better than Phoenix, IMO (which I always thought looks a sort of vomit colour). Austin yellow has a sharpness to it, with flashes of green in the right light.

Agree with the shadow chrome option too. Going black would have looked too aftermarket.

Very nice work Sean and looking forward to seeing the results.

Got the inside of the boot lid painted today, this should dry a nice satin as I mixed the lacquer with matting paste, I will be doing the engine bay in the same shade of grey

that is some lumpy soup - no wonder you needed to electrocute it ...

Great looking Zed still and like the understated choice of under boot / bonnet grey

Looks like your making great progress. Can i ask why your not painting the engine bay and underside of the boot lid in Austin yellow ?

I will be painting the slam panel Austin yellow but as for the rest, it has been done neutral as has the underside and under the wheel arches so if I decide to change the colour in the future it will be a lot easier ;)

A pale or white colour on the underside of the car is also an old trick on rally cars I think?

It shows oil and fluid leaks easier. Not that Sean will have any of those of course :)

I hope not Robert but you never know.

Got a bit more done and started the engine bay today, the first bit was around the bonnet hinges so I can fit the front wings once the doors are done, got both sides done
