#ZedShed Zedshed Social Room

Oh. I see you want a multi job role. Creative Manager & Senior Apprentice, gonna need A4 business cards at this rate 😂

An important project headed up by our apprentice @Holliez4 is to fill the walls with the ‘sheds memorabilia. This wall made up of various Zed calendar pictures. Look closely enough and you may see you’ve made the wall!

First up check the electrical connection to the vanos solenoid hasn't been unplugged or dislodged when the sensor was changed. Second give the connections a squirt with electrical cleaner. If that doesn't work drop another message on here

Thanks for the reply will do that. If its good what next?

You need to test the solenoid is working.

Couple of options, if you have double vanos swap the exhaust and inlet solenoids to see if there's any improvement.

For single vanos (and double for that matter) remove the solenoid and apply 12v across the connections to see if it activates. Make sure the polarity is the correct way round as it may damage the diodes in the solenoid.

Be careful when removing the solenoid as there is a shuttle valve with a spring behind that may pop out. Also check that the shuttle moves freely within it's bore. If it's sticky give it a clean with some fine emery paper and degreaser.

You could also swap the solenoid with a known working one.

If still having issues you will need to check you have 12v at the connector to the solenoid. Not needed to do this myself so can't really advise on how to do it, but would imagine a voltmeter across the connections and holding rpm above 2500 will do it

No problem

Use this thread to ask questions, and talk Zedshed related Nonsense. I’ll make a start.

Zedshed was a capacity today. Some new faces entering the fold. Between all the socialising we still managed to built a Vanos and gearbox indent pins. These jobs are all easily achievable at any Zedshed garage around the Uk.

We play every Saturday feel free to come say hi.
How would I find the location of a Zedshed? I'm in Winchester but awaiting a rebody of my 3.0 auto Z3 from Classic CoachWorks in Basingstoke but when its finished I know its going to need some work, such as rear bushes, cooling system refresh and smoke test to find source of lean codes. Would be great if I could get some help with these ;)

Sorry. I can't help with the zsheds. But I'm curious. What rebody are you having?

I'm building a tribute 507. Doing all the work myself and just doing beam bushes, brakes and suspension. Everything else is oem and ok and I'll fix stuff as and when it's necessary.

But you're having it built by CCW. I don't know what that build costs but, in the big scheme of things, if it was me, I think I'd joining the queue at @Lee ' s shed and have the whole thing refreshed for years of trouble free motoring.
