So, thinking about moving the lift outdoors in the summer, obviously there will be more headroom than there is inside the Shed. With the lift at max. height,

The collector on the oil drainer for inside use could do with extending.

I thought that what I need is another collector which can be adjusted higher. And this is the start of the new one,

This is a piece of 36mm O/D plastic pipe having been shrunk into a 32mm I/D sink drain. Fixed in place by use of super glue and accelerator. This pipe is a very good sliding fit inside 42mm O/D pipe. Drain bowl ordered. More to follow.

So you have a 'regular' (whatever that is) ceiling height in your garage and the lift won't go all the way up as the car roof would foul? That's interesting, getting closer to buying my lift and haven't really measured up yet. In my head a mid-height lift was going to let me have full height in the garage. Better go and measure up...

Mine is static in the garage no intention of using it outside as my drive has a gentle slope outside. So far using it in the garage with the Z's with their hoods down allow them to be lifted so the wheels are waisten high, works for me. The extended lift pads it came with allows for some working space between the lift arms and the bottom of the car, just have to lift it in two stages I use my old drive on ramps to drop the car on then lower the arms and fit the extended pads.

it does depend which way I put the car on the ramp Robert, and as Colin says with the roof and windows down the roof spars can pass through the cabin and the door lifter goes between the headrests. I will add some pictures later.

I can’t wait until we are all able to visit and say hello in person. Does anyone know when we are we all able to meet up?

Hey Phil, I think we are good to go on the Saturday (22nd.) of the weekend before Thoresby. Up to 30 people outdoors? and 6 indoors. We have plans in place for bathroom use, ie. paper towels etc. Will mean dining al fresco (assuming the Cafe is open - will check up on that after Monday) but otherwise we are double vaccinated now and were told that after 1 week full protection.

This about max. height for my car inside the garage Robert.
If you're looking at getting a mid rise lift I would seriously consider these units (depending on your budget of course). I have made mine much more easily moveable by making some "add-on" castors and using a trolley jack to "tow" the lift so that you only have to pull/push rather than apple downward pressure to keep it off the ground. Also a quick release hydraulic hose coupling is a great addition.

Today it's the rear of the Shed up for treatment. Wash the green off the cladding.

Thanks @t-tony. That doesn’t look at full stretch by some distance? Does it give you room to drop a gearbox? I’m justifying buying one from being able to do that.

Mine, the same as Tony's is positioned the opposite way around, rams at the front, if I needed to access the gearbox the car would have to be reversed onto it to allow better access for dropping the box out. Nodzed at Zed Shed West has a lift like the one in the Jag video, as the rams are on each side that leaves quite a good clear area for working down the centre of the car. Our Blue arm lifts do come with an assortment of lifting pads that can be interchanged to give extra height between the cars sills and the lift ramps which aids access down the centre of the car, used my extended pads the other day to get at the brake line cover that runs down the underside of the car. I do like ours with the adjustable lifting arms it suits the Z3 and Z4 and the wifes Suzuki Alto although I am limited to how high I can get the latter due to its fixed roof.

Very nice. Thanks Tony. I shall look at that some more. This was the one I'd previously been looking at. It's a few hundred more but thought it might give me good access.

I watched the video of the guy with the Jaguar, thing I wasn't keen on was you can be limited by the length of the lift pads.
This is set of lifting pads which you get with the lifts which Colin and I have.

Most other lifts give you only 1 set of 4 pads, so these are very versatile.

Tony.

ps. When I bought mine Bill had only 2 left one of which was sold pending collection. His next shipment he said was due in May.
