Some video of the lift in action.

View: https://youtu.be/9sZePkh8KSA

And a few pictures showing vehicle access from underneath. You could definitely remove a Z gearbox, but it would take two as you would have to "drop it" then lift it down forwards. I will load the car the other way around tomorrow and see if access is improved.

Door protection with car raised on lift. Windows lowered to pass the LED strip light. With roof lowered I have roughly 6-8" more height available.

Up to your high standards no doubt, fingers crossed it won't be long now before the next meet.
(finished my Ferrari jigsaw now starting on the Aston Martin. Boredom makes you do some real funny things.)

Nice setup Tony you must be well chuffed how your space has turned out.
I am Mark, I really enjoy working out in the garage whether it's on cars or with wood. The 2 things seem to go well together;) Time will tell if this latest investment was worth it but I think it will be.

Tony.

ps. Our Gary left me all his wood chisels and a plane blade to sharpen for him, before he heads back to fit a load of doors at our old house round the corner at the end of the week. No pressure there then.=))

I’m talking petrol head jigsaw ie:

Not a normal jigsaw but finding the bits from this 1667piece set is nearly as bad as a jigsaw, should have lasted a few weeks but I’m so bored got it done in three session. Thurs,Fri,Sat. Wife not happy as it cost her dearly and it’s done. Don’t say dismantle and do it again as the the air was blue when I found I was missing one piece half way through. This kit allows you to see the engine pistons going up and down when the rear wheels turn and full working diff and steering. Now all I have to do is the Aston Martin my daughter brought round today.

Not boreing when I’m doing it only when it’s finished.

With the car loaded onto the lift the other way there is easily enough room to drop a gearbox. More headroom would make it better in all honesty.

Got the Eos on for front discs and pads. One side stripped by teatime. Would've been easier loaded the other way on the ramp. Offering a little more height.

Certainly makes things easier mate. The Eos wheel base is 50mm longer than my Z but still fits the ramps ok. Having said that the Eos would clear the lift without using the ramps. I had to use the highest pads to take up the most free space.

Thought as much about the Eos clearing the lift, but easier to leave the ramps in situ rather than moving all the time.
Jobs in there wont take anywhere near as much time, allowing you to be at Shirls beck and call more often

Large magnetic parts tray to keep all the bits safe, put one on your bithday gift list. I used to end up kicking bits and then having to find them, not happened since I got a magnetic tray.

I have a small "dog dish" mate but a larger one may be on the horizon. Currently chewing over how to make an oil drainer which will go under the lift.
Partly made (the base anyway) and also a pair of wheel chocks and a place to store them yesterday. Oh, and my creeper stool came yesterday too.

Toyed with the idea of making an oil drain can to go under my lift, got some empty 5gallon drive sealer cans that might be useful to make one with the addition of some poly pipe and a large diameter funnel. Where are you keeping all lifting pads mine are on a metal shelf neatly stacked, you could fill up a vacant side panel with some sort of rack bit like your chocks.

I know what you mean re the lifting pads mate, but the height extension pieces are very heavy so need to give it some thought. My idea too re the drainer. I'm looking for a clear "opaque" (so I can see how full t is) 25 ltr drum of square section rather than round. Ditto with the Poly pipe and fittings, I'm thinking to drop the pipe right down to the bottom of the drum (laid on it's side) and then drill holes in the side of the pipe to allow it to discharge the oil but also supporting the pipe and therefore the drain pan. A 45 deg. elbow above the drum and about 30cm of tube, another 45 deg. elbow opposite way and a short lifter of about10cm to the pan. Haven't worked out how to connect the pan to the drain tube yet. Thinking of using 32mm (ID) black tube and fittings. What do you think ?

What about an old Dyson Hoover extending tube if available, the one on our/ (oops) my wife’s extends from about 54cm fully closed to 240cm fully extended with a dia of 4cm 1.5in, ok you won’t need one that long but a damaged one would obviously have some of the tube still useable. Here’s a couple of pics.

you would only need a small piece as it extends, it’s spring loaded so it would need a light fixing at the container end plus a piece of tubing (bleed tube) on the outside of container to tell you how full. Could allow you to use any container. Just an idea to get you thinking on the right track. Extending tube also gives you less room for storage plus you could get container out the way even outside.
