#ZedShed #ZedShed general discussion thread

Cant comment on that Steve but it was your zed or the mountain bike and the general consensus was your zed was the preferred option

So.... this arrived in the 'shed during the week... In the best Rolf Harris impersonation, can you guess what it... Oh, hang... probably best not to go there

It basically does this!

Actually can lift the car much higher than this, but our small compressor is struggling a little. Bigger compressor now on the shopping list... To be honest, we really struggled to get @Rally's Z4 on it because it's so low, but with a guy on each corner lifting we got there!

The stats of the little beastie.

Nice sturdy piece of kit.

Does that lock into position Gaz. Don't trust it if it relies solely on pressure to keep it up.

Yeah, it has a set of teeth on it that lock automatically as it rises. Bit like a clock mechanism, probably has a real name but I don't know what that is! Nice and safe whilst underneath. Have a slight concern about the weight loss from the rear when we take out the sub frames, but will be looking in to an adjustable prop to go under the engine when it's in the air.

It is possible, but I'd be very surprised if removing the rear axle and frame made it unstable Gaz. Nice bit of kit too.

Tony.

What do you mean by weight loss? Does the front go heavy ? It's just because you are effectively moving the centre of gravity of the vehicle when you remove some weight off the back.

That's our thoughts although unlikely, but to be honest we do take safety seriously when we are tinkering! We've only had 2 cars up in the air so far, and will likely relax a little once we have a bit more experience with it.

Wow dogs dangles guys:thumbsup:

A couple of long 6x2 planks will aid in getting low cars on it, run them parallel to the lift and drive on to the planks. Nice bit of kit, ever so slightly envious :D

With Rally's car we probably only needed another 15mm or so, so thinking some scaffold planks should do it.

So between big projects we are always tinkering with something so here's some of the highlights over the last few months.

Martin was doing some bumper alignment one morning

We totally modded a set of Z4 headlights for Rally, real ball ache of a job.

We did the M50 manifold swap on oldguysrule 2.8. The valves were very clean for 140,000 miles.

I've been chasing wobbly steering issues which I've now managed to sort.

Gaz attempted to hold the record for the longest gearbox/Diff oil change. I think was due to the amount of people gassing with him =))

It's been very busy in recent weeks

When can I drop mine in mate? :D:D:D

Bloody Hell it looks like Sopers forecourt :woot:

Thanks for all your help today guys.
All back together and drives so much better. No more driving like a Sealink ferry.
