Well on the Z4 maybe.. but on the Z3.. we clearly spotted smoke coming from those brakes on @Shortie_gal 's little Vixen... and yep.. @Lee was driving too.

Ha! you lot are brilliant, the public will think I'm nuts. You would all do the same if you were in my shoes.

Just a sneak peak of what’s to come. I’ve had the coupe in bits the last few weekends. She’s needed some tlc for a few months. I also have a new look for her. Just waiting on the bits to arrive.

It’s also the first z4 subframe job done in the shed, safe to say it’s far easier than the Z3.

Much simpler back end to strip Lee. Waiting to see what you've done mate.

Four mount point for the rear sub then? Looks like no flexing with the way that’s built?
No boot spot welds to start popping Mark.

Tony.

It’s such a solid structure on the rear. It’s worth noting that the coupe is double the rigidity rating of an M3. Crazy stiff. So it’s for that reason why I won’t be powerflexing. The main reason for all this work was a failed handbrake. BMW in their wisdom made this item so you have to fit it from below, having to remove the exhaust and prop shaft to gain access. I still think you could do it from above but it would be a total nightmare. I will eventually get round to doing a write up for removing the subframe. Just need some time :)

Bit of an update, subframes all back in. I can confirm the handbrake now works but you need to remove the prop shaft along with exhaust like everyone kept telling me, personally if i needed to do this job again you can do it all from above despite what everyone says. Few photos from the
last few weeks .

The exhaust, I've had the backbox removed so it's very loud a poppy.

Another shot of the subframe.

We also noticed that I had 5 cracks in one of the rear wheels. So I got some new wheels with some lovely pilot sport 4's.

I also noticed I had some sticking callipers up front, can't say I'm surprised as the track days do put a lot of heat through them. I ordered a kit and rebuilt them both.

I also needed two new lambda's after cooking them removing the old exhaust flange bolts.

While I had everything off I decided to order some BC coilovers. These have made such a difference. Remember you will need shorter drop links.

Not the most flattering photo but you get the idea.

Waiting on the new front splitter to arrive and my new DRL's. I'm also on track at silverstone next week so that should be a good shake down ready for summer.

Will that poor car ever be 100% complete =)). Still think you should put a supercharger on it. :D
