I don't think it can be modified without cutting and welding to lower the brace. Won't be bringing it Thursday, have you seen the forecast?
Yes typical English weather :(

Great bit of kit for a road car, your car gets hit on one side, strut brace takes out the other side .... ;)

Think that is why on the Z4 it comes forward from the bulk head and splits off to the two turrets.

It’s a good point.
Tomorrow I’m disconnecting my rear subframe mounts so that if I hit one side I don’t take out the other.
I may even saw the windscreen frame it two as well just in case :)

Yeah I always read comments like this, again about the so called "Show Hoops", so just name me one member on here who has rolled their car and needed more than the Windscreen frame anyway. If you crash a modern car regardless of where it gets hit it ain't going to get repaired. if a Z3 is hit in the side the bonnet is f*****d so is the car, ask anyone. If you crash an old car your chances of repair are even less so fit a strut brace, tell your insurance, it won't make a scrap of difference.

Evening Big Ears, it will make "a scrap of difference" if you would be able to repair one side of the car only and I am not just talking about body work.
You are introducing something non OEM to the car.
As for your "Show Hoops" you had, they look fmucking ridiculous.
Going to have to start calling you 'Mr Bling' ....

Its a proven point. Think about it, you introduce extra strength. Why was that not OEM?
As in, you can not get them from BMW, its all after market bling kit.
It's not OEM as it increases cost and will sometimes interfere with desired resonance and nvh

Same reason polybushes aren't standard even though they are better overall

The strut brace on the M4 attaches to both sides at the same time

And the e46 M3 (BMW oem aftermarket)

And the BMW performance range (BMW oem aftermarket)

If you get whacked hard enough to transmit the force across the car then your pretty knackered anyway

Remember also that the bottom of the chassis is already braced too

If it's OK with BMW it's ok with me

Well you're a bit late for that mate, I've had a Z4 for 2 1/2 years if you hadn't noticed. It would not make a tiny bit of difference to anyone owning a Z3 ever. Period. Unless maybe it was an ///M, even then it would be touch and go. If your immaculate 1.9 could not be saved for the cost of a bonnet, that says it all Mike.

Lot more damage than just the bonnet. Plus insurance company's are not interested in cars from 1996.
And so, when were Z3's first made???? How many times have you said on here it was the bonnet what killed you car mate? We were discussing fitting strut braces on Z3's were we not............... 1996 onwards

Yeah, that's what they used as an argument.
Could not find 2nd hand at the time over here, only in the UK and shipping was not an option.

But what if you want to repair the car, want to have to deal with two sides?
