Please ignore the state of the garage, lol, but tried putting the rear end of the exhaust on this morning. Then this happened:

A 2" gap??

Took it back off the hangers and compared it to the old one

Hmmm...

Came out from under the car to be greeted by this, lmfao

So degreased the engine bay and painted the strut brace instead

Before:

After:
Anthracite is such a sexy colour :hungry:

They're called ETS, it's a cheap make - I wasn't expecting it to last but I thought the dimensions would at least be correct

If ever I need an exhaust must remember that make ! Yeah would at least expect it to be usable. Think you'll be returning that one

I will be yer, no way I'm accepting that

Might stick the old one back on to mate with the new cat, repair a missing hanger just for its mot and then look into a stainless system

I think that would make more sense and what they refund put towards it.

Is that some sort of bypass fitted ahead of the back box?o_O

I would of been spitting feathers if it'd been me after all that work!!

It is indeed a bypass, no idea how it works, don't think it was ever wired in

Looks like a 1.9 exhaust to me especially with that flattened piece of pipe on the bend behind the front box .

That's pretty poor as you say the right length at least lol glad you can smile about it but a stainless would be worth it in the long run

Only reason I ask mate is that we suffer poor quality exhaust in the retail trade these days. 15 years ago Bosal was the standard to get, but how things change they are now as bad if not worse than some. If your supplier has a different brand to offer that may sort the problem. Sometimes we're supplied with one part from one manufacturer and one from another, and never the twain ................................

Think it is a 1.9, but there is such a poor choice for this car. Prices are either mega cheap or insane, so I went cheap to get it through its mot. Hopefully they'll give me a refund as they said they would when I enquired about it before buying

Old one is going back on, need to fix the hanger on it as it's missing one but should be ok. I'll be getting a stainless when funds allow.

Thanks for posting Cheddars, always good to see another Zed being returned to health. I would recommend a decent stainless exhaust especially if the car is a keeper. It will certainly improve the sound track of the six if nothing else! .All the best with the MOT.
