Z3 Coupe uglier than a bread van?

Love the Z3 coupe, such a shame I'll never be able to afford one. It's unusual shape is a masterpiece :tumbleweed:.

RHA,Roy:)

That's because it was created by engineers and not designers!!! Quote from a buyers guide below:-

"The M Coupé was one of those out-of-hours projects created by engineers rather than designers – which is pretty obvious from just the briefest of glances. Drive it though and it’s a different story. With a bodyshell three times as stiff as the M Roadster that sired it, the 325bhp M Coupé is also 120kg lighter than the 343bhp E46 M3 coupé."

I believe for a number of years after it was introduced the breadvan had the highest body torsional rigidity figure in the whole BMW range.

In all the years I've been driving BMW cars (over 20 years) the Z3 M Coupe is the only car I've had people hanging out of car windows with a camera/iPhone taking pictures of it. You know that you are driving something special when that happens. :coolsteer)

Some of the responses from inquisitive people that I've had over the years of ownership looking at the M Coupe are:-
1. Is it a new model, never seen one before?
2. What is it?
3. Is it a BMW?
4. I've never seen anything like it, its stunning!!

Some people - Ontiken1 & Jamezee - will hate the M Coupe, whilst lots of others myself included will think it is a fantastic car. The rear view is totally brilliant and is a view I never tire of especially when I park up in a carpark and just have to turn round to look at those huge flared arches. That feature is sometimes that the "designers" missed a trick with when they introduced the Z4 M Coupe, it just doesn't have that same aggressive look of the original breadvan.
The car is a legend and the concept will probably never be repeated by BMW again, enjoy it while we can. :drinks:

What colour is that. Would look very nice in Sterling Grey ................ or Gold.

Well said. I do not hate it just not keen on the rear half! and anyway its a good job I am not keen on it as i could not afford one :sour:

I have realised i like the front of the Z3Coupe and the rear of the Z4 Coupe !! Any welders on here?

I was about to post a very similar comment. Also the side view of both Coupes, in my opinion, the Z4 looks more like a Coupe should than the Z3 does. From the rear the Z4 could've been improved with some wider hips.:)

Tony.

Sorry Paul, I like that !! How many hours went into it I wonder?

Tony.

ps. It's not April 1st again is it?;)

About 30 mins on photoshop lol
Now I'm disappointed Martin. I would like one of those, just to carry the grand kids in.=))=))

An estate car with a Ferrari badge passed me on the M27 this week and I had to look twice. Had to google it when I got to the office. Not sure if it was one like this but looked very similar.

Just had another search and this one was built for the Sultan of Brunei and kept at his London address

The love the Z3 and Z4 coupe. Can't afford a Z3 but would have a Z4 coupe as my daily anytime.

Agree with several comments on here, that the Z3 Coupe looks fine from the front and great from the back, but from the side the smooth swooping lines of the front half of the car give way to the very angular rear half. If they had altered the front part as well it may have looked great.
The Z4 Coupe rear quarter when viewed from the side (as in Stacey's photo) lacks a bit of refinement, but the overall shape is much better than the Z3. If I wanted a coupe I'd be happy to own a Z4, but no matter what the price £100 or £100,000, I wouldn't have a Z3 Coupe.
I like a car with good performance, but it should look good as well.
BUT, those are just my observations and like I keep trying to explain to my wife, I'm always right.=))
I won't tell you what she says, but there are a lot of 'f ' s and she seems reluctant to acknowledge the details of my birth certificate!
