Bugger off, you're just weaning yourself off 3 weeks of being p***** mate.
Tony.
Tony.
Your no where near grumpy enough for that mate!I am on my period....
I can only comment on the fact that my Z4 is much quieter than my Z3 when it's chucking down with rain Dino, so I think there must be something in that mate.I wouldn't pay much attention to a Z3 owner who was so scared of wetting the soft top they left they hardtop on permanently
Jokes aside the point is correct this it is the waterproof lining inside the top that keeps the water out, not the fabric you see on top.
So back on topic I came across this interesting site showing what all the tops are actually made of:

The terminology in the Z3 description is possibly a typo 'anelastomeric' and probably should read 'an elastomeric'. I had to look that one up..
e·las·to·mer
(ĭ-lăs′tə-mər)
n.
Any of various polymers having the elastic properties of natural rubber.

No need for sour grapes bud ! Just think, they could have called you soft top. Thanks for that golden nugget of information, guess where we are going to stick it.....![]()
Personal hate of mine which is why I don't allow it on hereIt takes as long sometimes to reply, "this question has been asked a thousand times....use the search engine blah blah blah"
Re a cover, I reccomend the lightweight water proof half cover from Classic additions.
It's sits as tight as you like (by shortening the straps) but the material is light enough for air to circulate so the top drys out even with the cover on.
Just make sure the areas where the strap runs over the body are clean to minimize scratches (no need to clean the entire car each time).

A very good investment at £40.
The water ingress in a Z3 can be from so many places (I had water ingress with a hardtop on!) and it can take a while to find all the leaks. So in this weather a quick to use cover is essential (I got mine a couple years back when we have the heavy rains in Kent). I have since sorted all the leaks but this season another has appeared so the cover have come back out of storage to keep the car dry until I sort the latest leak out (probably in spring!)
That is also the problem if you have a hardtop and no (heated) garage, you have to put it back on when the weather is still fair or your soft top will rot.I do have a car cover for her. the problem is that the car needs to be bone dry before the cover it is put on........
Just thought if the car is leaking wouldn't it be best to put the cover on even if it is wet to stop any more water getting in just as short term, as it will be a dry day soon, Tuesday Wednesday should be dry here and the roof doesn't take too long to dry especially if you dry it first with a towel.I do have a car cover for her. the problem is that the car needs to be bone dry before the cover it is put on........
Ask away mate, you just might not like the answer.......Well as a new member I certainly won't be asking any questions given that unfriendly rant! :-(
