Noticed this today when I got into the car. I assume it's to do with the poor maintenance of the soft top?

I've done one application of a protector and plan another today. As previous threads have noted she needs alot ot TLC.

Is it rain seeping through or is it condensation?

I sometimes get beads of condensation if I keep my windows in up position when my car is in the garage, more so when my hard top is on

Car is outside. Thinks it's water seeping through. I've now applied a second coating of protector. Hoping it will prevent further seeping. It should bead on top not inside lol

Does your soft top look in good condition inside and out, or could it be that the top needs changing?

I'm not getting any leaks via the roof. Do need to sort a few drops coming in from the drivers door/roof seal but the actually roof seems ok. I'm hoping it's just down to very poor maintenance and care.

The rear plastic screen is fogged up but no water penetrating into actual car. Have considered replacing the plastic screen though at nearly £90+ I can get a second hand soft top for £180+.

Condensation on your rear window is probably linked to the soft top condensation inside. You mention you get beads of condensation when your hard top is on and windows up when parked in garage. Does this happen in damp winter weather conditions or all year round? Have you checked for dampness under carpets and in the boot? Just a thought, as one problem creates the other - I hope the second application of soft top protection works!

No garage or hard top for me. Think I'll just need to live with it for this summer and then get a new soft top roof fitted.

There was something mentioned in another thread with regards to condensation "bags" that you can stick in your car. Won't solve the issue of condensation but will mop it up until you resolve the situation.

Buy a bag of rice from the cheapest source you can, tip it into and old stocking etc, tie it off and place in the footwell.
Amazing how much moisture this stuff absorbs and its infinitely reusable too.

Tony.

True ghastly weather.
My roof was proofed in July beads on light rain but looks soaked sodden with heavy continued rain.
Problem is to reproof it needs to be bone dry and stay dry for few hours after application for it to work.
Guess its doing the job nothing's getting through.
Hope yours is dry after proofing.

there selling the bags in halfords in the sale - £10, they are cheaper on ebay though. the roof has a rubber type membrane sandwiched in the material so is unlikely to be leaking through, its condensation, i get it in mine too. at first i thought it was leaking through the roof so sprayed the roof in water repellent, this seemed to work, however the is another thread on here about roof sealers and a roof suplier has posted a comment recarding these products, i will see if i can find it.

The roof itself is unlikely to leak as @hard top agrees unless it is cut but leaks will occur at the top of the A pillar, through the heater intake under the scuttle, From behind the door cards when water runs past the window seal and where the roof meets the body at the rear if the butyl seal has failed.

The water inside the roof is probably condensation as the foam under the carpets is damp/soaking. Unfortunately you will have to wait till dryer weather and get the seats out to lift the carpets and dry out.

Cleaning the roof will make it look better and stop mould growing.
