Glad you're OK Wilko.
Sorry to see the Zed like that, that is gut wrenching.
Bet the graze was from the airbag, but it did it's job, as did the rest of the car.
A car of this age in a crash like that, and you can still walk away. I bet a few other cars of that age would not have protected you as well.

@Wilko58 so sorry to see your nice Zed in that state but at least it protected you and I’m glad you suffered no serious injuries to yourself.

If your Zed can be straitened out I have a spare bonnet which is still on my car which will need a little filler for some very small micro dents or a wizard dent guy and spraying to your colour but you can have it for free but would need picking up from Banbury area.
Top offer Mark!! Good man.

Really sorry to read about your accident @Wilko58 and can only repeat what all the other guys have already said. Get well soon and hope you get back on the road quickly too

An update and thank you.

Almost home.

Got away with a badly bruised chest, small cut to my eat from where a twig came through the side window and a graze in my left hand from something (?).

Thanks for all the good wishes and support.

Torn between another Zed, a VW T4/5 Campervan or emigrate somewhere warm
Thanks for the update mate and pleased to hear you've walked away pretty much in good shape. Be good if you stayed around and got another zed but you now have choices. Maybe Marks offer of a free bonnet may sway you to start repairing yours if it's not to far gone? o_O
Chuffed Adrian is getting you home, bloody good show I say.

@Althulas

Many thanks. Funnily enough I work at Aston le Walls quite a few times a year and will be there the last weekend of October.

If it's okay I'll be in touch once I've found out about the damage from an expert.

Cheers,

Tracey

No problem but I won’t be home until 2nd of Nov
That won't be a problem especially as the recovery driver said he doesn't think it's repairable

Just got home. Splendid weekend (glad to see you're up and about @Wilko58).

Set off North on the A1 at 0700hrs, still raining FFS! Lots of commuter traffic and Elephant Racing going on, manic. Pootling along at about 55 overtaking a line of trucks and the car behind was flashing like mad (must've had a magic rain tyre compound), let him through as soon as I could pull in then he pulled in a brake tested me and shot off (silver Golf GTi). Lost 1.5hrs almost stationary to find there had been an RTC, a silver Golf GTi picked on an artic, all out and OK but Karma :D

As soon as we passed the RTC the rain stopped and back to 3 lanes and on it to Scotch Corner, roof down! First time all weekend :arghh:

Back on it on the A66 with blue skies over the Lakes, irony :wideyed: when passing an artic I clocked two kamikaze pheasants approaching from 3 O'Clock and heading for the truck! Clever buggers too, the leader took on a run at the cab to distract the driver whilst his number 2 took on the trailor ....... It lost, badly! Dazed and flapping like a 12 year old girl that had just clocked a money spider it hit my lane. Quick as a flash I tried to see if I could scoop up the attacker in my radiator vent, missed! It rattled down the underneath of Bella so with one eye on the temp gauge and one eye on the road I pulled in to see how well I'd done :arghh:
20181015_103045.jpg

I did consider going back to question said attacker but looking at the feathers it looked like it was proper plucked! On inspection at home my exhaust heat shield now has a new shape, which is nice :arghh:

That said, 500 miles of Zedding bliss in the bag and back in time for the school run

That's a hell of an off mate! Any intrusion of the engine into the cockpit? The important bit looks like it's done it's job very well mate

Looks like Bella had a good meal! Hopefully didn't damage her paintwork.
I managed to get some top down driving on the way home yesterday as it brightened up when I got back into Nottinghamshire.

@Wilko58 glad to hear you're alright, that's the main thing.

Sorry to hear that the car is looking like a write-off. Any chance of resurrection?

@Wilko58, Blimey Tracey looks like you've had a very lucky escape. Not so the Zed though, she looks in a pretty bad state but at least she did save you from serious injury. Pleased to see you're up and about.

Sounds like a crash for cash scam, might be worth letting the rozzers know they tried it on you to save the poor lorry driver.
